So I’m going to talk about two trailers for movies coming out next Summer: The Legend of Tarzan and The BFG.
The Legend of Tarzan
I don’t think I’ve ever seen a live-action version of this. All I’ve known is whatever Disney has told me so this one is definitely different from what I know. This film (or at least from the trailer) appears to be an origin story of sorts, or at least a Tarzan and Jane origin story. This film stars Alexander SkarsgÃ¥rd as Tarzan and Margo Robbie as Jane Porter. This film also features Christoph Waltz (who I love), Samuel L. Jackson (who I also love), and Djimon Hounsou as well. I don’t remember the other characters in the story so I’m not sure who they will be playing but I’m sure they wouldn’t hurt. There are a lot of animals (as it should) and some tribe action as well. They appear to be African tribes so maybe this takes place somewhere in Africa. I’m just curious as to where they will take a story that almost everyone already knows. The Legend of Tarzan will be released on July 8th, 2016.
The BFG
I’ve never heard of the children’s story for which the film is based but it immediately got my interest as soon as I heard that Steven Spielberg was directing. The story is based on the book by Roald Dahl involving a young orphan Girl named Sophie (Ruby Barnhill) who it unlike all of the other orphans (as one is) and during one night where she couldn’t sleep runs into a monster known as the BFG (Mark Rylance), or Big Friendly Giant, an outcast amongst the other giants. What a strange coincidence, an orphan outcast meets an outcast giant. Only something good can happen from that. Have you guessed this is a family film? I will say that not only Spielberg has garnered my interest but also Rylance who I have to say was excellent in one of Spielberg’s last films, Bridge of Spies. The BFG will be released on July 22nd, 2016.
