If you would like to watch trailers for Season 4 of Orphan Black, click here. I do admit that I caught on to this one a little late but ever since I did, I was hooked. Not only is it a great sci-fi show, it is also Canadian (where I am from). It is led by a Canadian actress named Tatiana Maslany, who over the course of the show has played 10 different clones flawlessly. BBC America has now released a video featuring the first 4 minutes of the Season 4 premiere which I’ve included below. Season 4 of Orphan Black premieres Thursday April 14th at 10pm on Space (in Canada) and BBC America (in the US).
I will say that I haven’t really thought of this movie too much (I still have it on my most anticipated movies of 2016 list) since my focus has been on the episodes but it is interesting to see a similar yet unrelated story within the same universe. While The Force Awakens was very similar to past Star Wars films (mostly A New Hope), this one has its own story and feels like its own movie with its own style. This movie is a prequel to the original trilogy as rebels set out on a mission to steal the plans to the Death Star. This one stars Felicity Jones, Forest Whitaker, and Mads Mikkelsen (who we don’t see here). Rogue One: A Star Wars Story releases December 16th, 2016.
Matt Slaughter (Stephan James) is poised to become the next NHL great and the first black professional player from Nova Scotia. In the days before he’s set to be picked up by a team, racial tensions are erupting at his school. While he tries to keep himself out of trouble, Matt finds it increasingly difficult to separate himself from the fights that keep occurring. He grows close to Jayme Crowley (Sarah Jeffery), a woman of mixed race whose white boyfriend John (Steven Love) happens to be friends with Todd (Dennis Theriault), the person at the centre of problems. If dealing with the racism and from Jayme’s boyfriend isn’t enough, Matt must also deal with his criminal brother whose behaviour also threatens Matt’s chances at achieving his dream.
