A Monster Calls

When one hears “A Monster Calls”, one can’t help to get the impression that it’s going to be a horror movie (at least in my opinion). But after watching the trailer, I now know that it’s a kid’s movie. Now many of us are used to seeing Liam Neeson as mostly an action star but I’m sure that a lost of us (or at least me) have not seen him like this before. If a movies is called “A Monster Calls”, there has to be monster (in most cases) and in this case, Neeson is the monster, more specifically a tree monster. I am definitely interested in seeing where this all goes. Also a cast including Sigourney Weaver and Felicity Jones doesn’t hurt either. A Monster Calls releases October 14th, 2016.

When The Bough Breaks

If you ever saw the film The Boy Next Door and wondered what a movie where the woman becomes obsessed would be like, then this one may be for you. While this is not the first movie of this ilk, it will surely not be the last. The story here is when a surrogate mom for a couple becomes dangerously obsessed with the soon-to-be father. We all know what women are like. I can’t help but to compare it to that but while The Boy Next Door was more of a suspense film, this one appears to try to go in the direction of horror. Whether or not this will be scary remains to be seen. If you enjoyed The Perfect Guy, a stupid, fun movie then you might enjoy this one. I kind of feel bad for Morris Chestnut who was in that movie and is also in this one. When The Bough Breaks releases September 16th, 2016.

The Neon Demon

Beauty comes with a price and those who don’t are willing to do just about anything to get it. At least this is the case here when an aspiring model Jesse (Elle Fanning) moves to Los Angeles, her youth and vitality are devoured by a group of beauty-obsessed women who will take any means necessary to get what she has.The last movie I can remember featuring jealous women was Black Swan which I enjoyed. While I don’t think this will be on the same level, it does have a visual style which I fin interesting. This film is directed and co-wrote by the director of Drive, another great and visually stunning film (or so I’m told because I haven’t seen it but want to) so this fascinated me even more. The cast also includes Keanu Reeves (absent in this trailer) and Christina Hendricks so it is looking good. The Neon Demon releases June/July (as of right now) 2016.
