Warcraft
Movies based on video games have generally not done that well so I am admittedly a little skeptical about this one. I am aware of the video game in which this film is based but I will say that I was never a fan of it. However, I can see how it could be a movie. Since I don’t really know that much about the game’s story, I don’t know how it relates to this film but I have a feeling that they are separate. From the trailer, the film boasts a massive (probably computer-generated) fantasy world and featuring big (also probably computer-generated) battle scene. It definitely all looks impressive but I fear that this may stray towards the cheesy side of things. We will see whether or not it does once Warcraft releases June 10th, 2016.
Hands of Stone
There have been a lot of boxing movies lately (2, Southpaw and Creed, are a lot) and here is another one. I’ve known about this one for a long time and I kind of forgot about it until just recently now that it is being released. I am a big fan of Robert De Niro (even after Dirty Grandpa which I liked) so I am looking forward to seeing him again. The story here is of the legendary Roberto Duran (Edgar Ramirez) and his equally legendary trainer Ray Arcel (De Niro) change each other’s lives. What makes this one even more fascinating is that Al Pacino was the first choice to play Arcel before De Niro was cast. When I’ll watch this, it’ll be hard for me to not compare the two. Hands of Stone releases August 26th, 2016.
