Marauders

Bruce Willis hasn’t done much lately, you can read a review of his most recent film, Precious Cargo, here. He is getting up there in age but he is still an imposing presence on screen. He is still imposing here as he is the subject of an investigation by an FBI Agent (Christopher Meloni) on the hunt of an untraceable group of elite bank robbers and uncovers a deeper purpose behind the robbery-homicides. There also appears to be some sort of conspiracy here which is kind of interesting. So far, this is looking better to me than another bank robber film from earlier this year, Triple 9. Whether or not it actually will be remains to be seen. Marauders releases July 1st, 2016.

Monster Trucks

The first thing I have to say is WTF? I definitely found myself asking this on multiple occasions here. A high school senior named Tripp (Lucas Till) who likes to build monster trucks befriends some half-shark, half-octopus looking creature that likes to live inside of his truck for some reason because why shouldn’t it. Where did it come from? What does it want? I assume some of these questions will be answered here. Of course, not all people like it and want to find it to kill it or study it I guess. The creature, which Tripp names Creech, I assume teaches him something about himself and Tripp becomes a better person and makes something out of his life or something like that. Monster Trucks releases January 13th, 2017.

Collide

How far would you go for love? We’ve seen this story before many times. This time, there’s a man named Casey (Nicholas Hoult) who loves a woman named Juliette (Felicity Jones)so much that when she gets sick, he’s willing to return to a life of crime in order to pay for her treatment. Things obviously don’t go according to plan as he gets a little too deep working a job for a man named Geran (Ben Kingsley), getting the wrong attention by a man named Hagen Kahl (Anthony Hopkins). This one looks like it has some decent action and Hoult and Jones are likeable leads and Kingsley and Hopkins are good enough bad guys. Collide releases August 19th, 2016.

Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice Ultimate Edition

Batman v Superman had a lot of promise before its release. A lot of people liked it early on but when it finally got released, things suddenly changed. The overwhelming consensus among critics and moviegoers alike was negative here. I understood some of the criticism but I liked it a little more than most in my review which you can read here. I still kind of liked it despite its lack of focus plot-wise, it just felt like it was trying to do too much. But now they are releasing what they call an “Ultimate Edition” of the movie which offers an extended cut of the original theatrical film, offering 30 minutes of more content because it already wasn’t long enough. My hope is with this extra content, will depict the film in a better light, offering a clearer plot and answering some lingering questions. Unlike the original, this cut will be rated R, primarily due to more violence. I am definitely looking forward to see if this will be better than the original. The Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice Ultimate Edition will be released on Digital HD on June 28th, 2016 with the Blu-Ray coming 3 weeks later on July 19th, 2016.
