Same Kind of Different as Me
I’m not really sure what to make of this one. The story here is about a married couple named Ron (Greg Kinnear) and Deborah Hall (Renée Zellweger) who have lost their way and now Ron must befriend a mysterious homeless man from his wife’s dreams named Denver (Djimon Hounsou) in order to try and save his marriage. This looks interesting and the Kinnear/Hounsou pairing is promising but we don’t quite know enough yet such as how Deborah’s dreams figure into all of this. We still got a lot of time, however, as Same Kind of Different as Me releases February 3rd, 2017.
Moonlight
This movie serves as a three-part narrative spanning the childhood, adolescence, and adulthood of an African-American man who survives Miami’s drug-plagued inner city, finding love in unexpected places and the possibility of change within himself. This one looks to be very powerful as this guy has had a pretty tough life, if the trailer is any indication. The story looked like it had some complexity to it and it got better as it went on. Hopefully there’s more to it than what we saw here. The orchestral-type music just added to what we were seeing. Moonlight releases October 21st, 2016.

Tom Hanks is one of my favorite all-time actors so the partnership with director Clint Eastwood makes the prospects for this one even higher. For those who still don’t know the story, it is about Captain Chesley Sullenberger (Hanks) who landed a plane along the Hudson river. This was a big thing on the news for the longest time but I didn’t know much else about it. Hanks is great and the fact that the film was shot with IMAX cameras which makes me excited for the plane landing sequence. It probably didn’t really happen that way but it’s a movie after all. Sully releases September 9th, 2016.
Hands of Stone (NSFW)
If you would like to read my thoughts on the previous trailer, click here. Well that was unnecessary. Did it really need a red band trailer? This still looks like a promising boxing movie but this trailer does not offer anything new and was just an excuse for some T&A (this is a red band trailer after all). Those who want to see have probably already decided and don’t need more convincing. The problem for me is that I will not be seeing this any time soon since it was pulled from release here in Canada. Hands of Stone releases August 26th, 2016 in the U.S.
