Underworld: Blood Wars – Beating A Dead Horse

This is the fifth film of the series in fourteen years and I admit that I forgot about the series until this most recent film, Blood Wars, was announced. I am a fan of the series but maybe not as big of a fan as I thought since I didn’t realize there were five films. I’m not exactly sure why there are five now but here we are. There’s just something about Kate Beckinsale in that black leather suit emblazoned in my mind. I’ve always associated her with the character of Selene and I guess that won’t be changing anytime soon.

A Monster Calls – An Emotional Monster Drama

It’s time for my first film of 2017 which happens to be a limited release film from the end of 2016. It has gotten a lot of buzz since its tour of film festivals and all that praise is well-earned. If I could have seen it last year, it definitely would have made the top 5 of my top 20 list of the best films of 2016. That’s the thing about living where I do, they always seem to get here when it’s too late but at least it did at all.

Live by Night Clip Explosion

I haven’t done this in a while but here we go. We are just over a week away (unless you are one of the few who saw it on Christmas Day) of Ben Affleck’s new directorial effort, Live by Night. The movies has been getting mixed reviews since its limited release but I’m still excited. Sure, there have been plenty of gangster period pieces but Ben Affleck’s involvement makes me feel better about it (which is something I don’t often say) and so does its great cast, featuring Brendan Gleeson, Chris Cooper, and Zoe Saldana just to name a few. I’ve also seen so many trailers for this, I feel like I’ve already seen the movie but for the rest of us, there are seven clips below to get us all in the mood.
