Now the terrorist/hostage subplot couldn’t last forever so this season needed to go in another direction and that was what happened in this episode, not before filling the remaining plot holes and answering some final questions. The promos promised a reveal of who really was the traitor at the CIA and this episode did but it didn’t really come as much of a surprise.

This week’s lesson did not play that much of a role in this week’s episode but it was on what to do if you were exposed. Near the end of the last episode, there was an explosion in an abandoned building that Owen and Alex found. Just before it exploded, we saw a man go inside. That man turned out to be Jeremy Miller (the author guy from a long time ago). We obviously know he didn’t die since he showed up later on as one of the early terrorists. The explosion prompted a separate investigation by the FBI. They interrogated Owen and the other recruits but they were more interested in Owen. Their investigation treaded familiar ground involving him and Lydia, lumping him in with the things that she did.

Everyone believed Lydia when she denied there ever being an AIC so their suspicion took a step back. Owen still caring for his daughter so he felt guilty about not being there for her. We already knew that Owen was in prison but we didn’t know why. The FBI knew about their mission at the NSA and accused him of placing the tap so to protect Lydia, Owen took responsibility and went with the FBI. Lydia, angry at Alex for setting Owen on this path kicked her off the farm.

We all know that Ryan was still undercover at the farm for the FBI but that status was unclear. The FBI’s operation was over but Lydia still wanted him there so he was torn between going back or staying with Alex.

Harry was upset that the information he got from the NSA in the last episode wasn’t what he wanted since it showed that the man who led his boyfriend to suicide maybe wasn’t a bad man after all. He was conflicted seeing that his revenge wasn’t feeling like revenge anymore. What didn’t help his case was that MI6 was coming for him. With that range of emotions, he starting drinking at the bar and told everyone his real mission at the farm. Before he left, he and Sebastian patched things up between themselves.

Back in the present, Dayanna and Will were still in the financial district looking for the drives. In order to avoid spreading panic, Lydia wanted to set up a small team to go back inside and get Dayanna, Will, and the drives. Alex, Ryan, Leon, Harry, and Lydia went back inside and of course Alex and Lydia were paired together. After finding Dayanna, Will, and the drives, Lydia revealed herself to be the real traitor and shot Alex so she can take the drives and upload them. She and Alex fought with Alex getting the upper hand. Will tried to stop it but she only managed to upload one.

Nimah and Miranda surrendered themselves to the FBI and Shelby, who interrogated them. We learned that Miranda was recruited by Miller who had real information on the AIC. They indeed existed and they were more dangerous than they thought. He joined another group within the CIA known as the Citizens Liberation Front, who turned out to be the terrorists. They knew about the AIC and set up the hostage crisis in order to identify them. Apparently, the first lady who was killed was part of them somehow. Things just escalated for Miranda and Nimah as they didn’t think it would have gone as far as it did. Luckily for them, the FBI and the CIA’s involvement was covered up so they were able to get away with it.

The episode then flashed forward two weeks later with Alex and Ryan seemingly breaking up but the real shocker of the episode was at the end when President Haas and Keyes summoned Alex, Ryan, Shelby, Nimah, and Dayanna to be part of the task force fighting who was behind the AIC and to find information from the drives before it is used against the United States. Guess who is leading the team, Caleb!

Overall, this was a great episode which served as a fitting end to the terrorist subplot and set it in a new direction. The resolution was a little underwhelming but I’m glad it’s finally over. I can’t wait to see Caleb again and how he’ll fit into this season.

Score: 8.5/10
