We’ve now moved away from Election Day but we’re still dealing with the aftermath. In last week’s Eli-centered episode, we learned the truth about his role in Vargas’ assassination. Two episodes ago, Olivia learned the truth that Fields is still alive and that Eli played a part in Vargas’ assassination. This truth has left her broken to say the least. She was missing for a while because she had walked out of their meeting. Huck went out to find her and when he did, she told him what happened and as retaliation for it, she asks Huck to kill Eli for her. Before he did anything, he wanted to make sure that she understood the gravity of the situation and she seemed to be all in.

This was episode was mostly Huck-centered as we see him living a relatively happy life (at least happy enough for him), spending time with Meg. Their relationship had evolved ever since she took him on as a client. Going back to his darker past wasn’t going to be easy.

Huck manages to track Eli to a subway station but being Eli, he already knew he was there. He sensed that Olivia would probably send Huck to kill him and he was prepared for it. Suffice it to say that it didn’t happen but he told Huck about the conspiracy and the people who forced him to kill Vargas to protect Sandra. There was obviously going to be any skepticism when it came to Eli but Huck believed him. He also told her that these people were still watching Olivia and that there was a traitor within her inner circle and asked him to find the mole, hence the episode title.

Huck immediately suspected Quinn and Charlie so he tracked her to a hotel room, finding her with Jake and Fields. There was tense face off where they pointed guns at each other with him accusing her of being the mole which she denied and then her accusing him which he denied. Things eventually cooled down, not before Quinn accusing Meg of being the mole which upset Huck but it kind of made sense.

Huck told Olivia the truth but she refused to believe it and that he had changed. She told him that if he couldn’t do it, she’d find someone who would. He continued to spy on Meg and he saw her with the mysterious woman from before. He then lured Meg back to his appartment where he tried to drug her but he couldn’t bring himself to do it and let her go.

Later on, they found Sandra’s body and tried to convince Huck that Eli killed her. He did but Huck was adamant that he had changed and that he had his reasons for doing it. He believed that people could change and that was what Eli did but Olivia still didn’t believe him. Olivia then tasked Quinn to kill Eli and Huck to dispose of the body but when he did, he found a bug featuring recordings of Eli and Sandra from last week’s episode. Knowing the truth, Olivia called off the hit and she and Huck went back to Meg to apologize.

She told Meg that people could change, kind of like how Huck tried to convince her. Huck promised to never touch her and brought Meg to see Fields. Of course Meg shot Fields and then Huck, kind of confirming that she was the mole. Huck got shot a few times but something tells me that he’s not dead, he can’t be.

Last but certainly not least, the episode promised a traitor and it delivered with the episode ending with a meeting featuring the mysterious woman, Meg, and Abbie. I did not expect that but it’s Scandal after all.

Overall, this was an exciting episode and the best episode of the season so far, featuring a compelling Huck-centered story where we got to see him go back to his darker past while investigating the mole and uncovering the conspiracy. It was also nice to see Olivia learn the truth about her father and start to believe that people could change. I can’t wait to see what they do with Abby now that she’s a traitor.

Score: 9/10
