The Independent Filmmaker Project (IFP) annually presents the Gotham Awards, a ceremony honoring independent films. Jordan Peele’s surprise horror film Get Out led the pack of nominations. The Gotham Tribute Awards will be given to Sofia Coppola, Nicole Kidman, Edward Lachman, Jason Blum, Dustin Hoffman, and Al Gore. The nominees are selected by film critics, journalists, curators, and festival programmers. Those directly involved in the filmmaking process will determine the final Gotham recipients. Dee Rees’ Mudbound earned the special Gotham Jury Award for ensemble performance. The recipients are Carey Mulligan, Garrett Hedlund, Jason Clarke, Jason Mitchell, Mary J. Blige, Rob Morgan, and Jonathan Banks.
