Lethal Weapon is generally a fun show to watch and the last episode was no different but the fun came at the expense of that episode’s story. This was still the case this week although even more so.

After his old friend Jake left Molly and their child to go on the run, Riggs had taken it upon himself to take care of them. When she saw Miranda’s picture on his phone, Molly encouraged Riggs to start dating again and sort of offered herself seeing that she had no one either. Cahill thought he should do so as well. Meanwhile, Murtaugh was having trouble again with his neighbor McNeile, more so because Riana was dating his son Robbie (Mavrick Moreno).

Another thing that bothered Murtaugh was the script that Scorsese was writing about he and Riggs in that he didn’t like how he was being depicted. Since Scorsese had been studying them, he had Murtaugh down which was just freaky. Murtaugh was determined to prove everyone wrong. We also learned that Scorsese’s real name was Bernard.

The case this week involved a murdered mob hitman named Tony Tibone (Teddy Margas) found in a hospital. From there, they stumbled onto a doctor named Jerry Johnson (Todd Grinnell) who faked his death in order to hide from the mob. He was spotted at the hospital by the hitman while his wife Adriana (Kristanna Loken) was about to give birth. Once the FBI became involved, they learned that the doctor was supposed to be a witness against the head of the mob, Frank Truno (Paul Ben-Victor), but after the incident with Tibone, they were now interested in Adriana who just happened to be a hitwoman sent to kill him which obviously didn’t happen and prompted the mob to go after her as well. When her testimony wasn’t enough, Riggs was determined to take down Truno in order to protect her and her family.

The wife thought she could save her family by killing the mob boss on her own but luckily Murtaugh and Riggs were there to save the day. Murtaugh had initially grounded Riana, however, he changed his mind and let her take Robbie to the dance. There was a nice meta moment at the end where he and Trish talked about what his catchphrase would be and Murtaugh was about to say that he was too old for this …

Overall, this was another good episode whose case was again secondary to that of the main characters. Even with that, there was little to no character development but the episode was still fun to watch with the Scorsese subplot with his script and his real name and the last line of the episode which payed homage to the movies.

Score: 7.5/10
