It’s been an intense few episodes since the midseason finale, however, it’s felt like this back half of the season has been in a holding pattern, waiting for something to happen but something did happen right at the end as it usually does.

Michaela felt guilty about Tegan so she texted her against Asher’s wishes as it would make her look even more suspicious. Bonnie had been working hard to protect Denver but he didn’t seem grateful. Annalise was working hard to get a restless Laurel released from the hospital. She was also worried about Frank who kept Dominic’s still ringing phone as it may lead back to them. She pleaded to Nate about the hard drive though he claimed to not know where it was.

Meanwhile, Annalise still has her class action case so she tasked Connor, Oliver, and Asher to work on it as a way to put their minds elsewhere. Laurel found a petition that could be filed to get her out but Annalise claimed to have already filed in and failed but it was a lie to keep her in the hospital. She didn’t know why Laurel gave birth prematurely and wanted to be sure that it wasn’t because of something she did to herself.

The sort of return of Wes via the voicemail message brought on some feelings within Annalise as she returned to his apartment. Denver told Bonnie to stay away from the Keating 4 but she couldn’t so she asked for Nate’s help with Asher. Someone at the law firm saw him and Asher have an altercation earlier that evening. Oliver had been monitoring Simon by hacking into the hospital because he still felt guilty about what happened. He went to visit Simon and apologize. Asher consoled him by telling him to repress what he was feeling.

Frank urged Annalise to mend her relationship with Bonnie so Annalise went to Bonnie’s so they can air their grievances. We all know what caused Laurel’s baby’s premature birth and now she knows and shared it with Michaela who then shared it with Annalise and Frank. Nate got stonewalled by Tegan when he tried to get more information from Caplan & Gold.

Isaac thought he was done with Annalise but she showed up at his office to convince him to see Laurel. He wasn’t exactly thrilled to see her. She told him that this was all about saving herself. While going through cases for the class action, Asher found one who shared the same name as Nate. Michaela ambushed Tegan who told her that she should be more scared about what may come. Denver warned Jorge about Bonnie. Isaac got Laurel released.

Finally, Annalise and Frank played Wes’ voicemail for Laurel. The number that had been calling Dominic’s phone was her supposedly crazy mother.

Overall, this was a good episode that didn’t really advance the plot for the back half of the season but it explored some new connections between the characters while raising a few more questions. What’s the connection between Wes and Dominic, Laurel’s mother and Dominic, and Nate and the class action client they found. What does Tegan know The scene between Annalise and Bonnie was the highlight of the episode. It’s nice to see them bring back the class action subplot but it kind of felt shoehorned in along with everything else. It can’t all be about Laurel and her baby, however, that storyline has been much better.

Score: 8/10
