This was a more compelling episode but the lack of direction is starting to become an issue.

The episode started with a Riggs and Molly flashback. In the present, Riggs was helping Ben get ready for little league. Riana, at a bowling alley, accidentally lent Murtaugh’s old highschool jacket to her friend Phoebe (Priscilla Quintana) who left with her boyfriend to party in what they thought was a  vacant house. The problem was that they were not alone.

Of course Murtaugh and Riggs were there to investigate. Bailey was on vacation so it was up to Bowman to fill the void. A body was removed from a pool and Murtaugh’s jacket was found at the scene. He and Trish were obviously upset but Riana wasn’t able to offer much more information. Murtaugh found Phoebe while Riggs found her boyfriend Tyler (James Morosini). Tyler’s gun did not match the gun used in the murder. Bowman also found evidence that the murder victim was into illegal activity.

Riggs took it upon himself to extort Ben’s little league coach to play him but Ben didn’t want to play because he wasn’t good. Later, he walked into a robbery in progress and fought his way to a movie theater where a supposedly grounded Riana was with a boy. Murtaugh interrogated Riana’s date who happened to be Phoebe’s brother Jesse (Daniel DiVenere).

Then we got another flashback of Riggs and his father during his little league days. Riggs got injured during one of his father’s outbursts and now in the present, Riggs and Ben threw the ball to each other until Ben got injured. When Murtaugh returned home, he wanted to speak to Riana but she snuck out with Phoebe who now was in possesion of stolen diamonds. Riana’s car was later found but she was gone before they got there.

Riana showed up at the precinct. The people who wanted the diamonds back took Tyler who was leading them to Phoebe. Murtaugh and Riggs got there first. Riggs tried to bring Phoebe back in from outside the window while Murtaugh dealt with the goons inside. Once that was over, they got the diamonds back.

Riggs consoled Ben and convinced him to give baseball another chance and seemed happier. Murtaugh and Trish mostly forgave Riana. In contemplation, we got one last flashback of young Molly offered young Riggs to stay at her house after what his father did but he was dedicated to his home. When faced with the same choice in the present, he chose to enter Molly’s house.

Overall, this was a good episode with a more focused plot whose main plot and subplots involved all the characters and were compelling to watch. The characters of Phoebe and Tyler were mostly annoying but that was a small price to pay. The flashbacks were okay, however, they didn’t offer anything new. There’s still no clear direction for the remainder of the season so it will be interesting where it will end up by the end.

Score: 8/10
