Talbot as the villain?

The episode started with Talbot lifting Coulson through the air to the alien ship. Despite their new predicament, Talbot was adamant that he could fix it. The worry was that Talbot could go crazy because of the gravitonium. On the ship, Coulson was more worried than Talbot. Instead of negotiating, Talbot let his power get to his head and got the aliens to kneel before him.

Coulson found a remorseful Hale who he still needed her help. They needed to make a new deal with the Confederacy. Talbot was going in for the meeting which was reason to worry. The Confederacy weren’t interested in renegotiating and were unwilling to let him join because he was human. Talbot absorbed one of the dissenting members, creating an empty spot. All the other members were afraid, other than one impressed one, a member from Kasius. He informed Talbot that the Confederacy originally had no intention of honoring their prior deal. There was a warning that attack from Thanos already started.

Talbot’s plan was to tap gravitonium deposits from under the Earth that the Kasius told him about to power him up further. Coulson warned him not to trust the Kasius but Talbot didn’t believe him and forced him to kneel.

At the lighthouse, the others took an alien hostage to get recon on the alien ship. It didn’t provide much before dying. Daisy returned with a bag to an upset Yo-Yo. As soon as she saw Jiaying’s skeleton inside the bag, they fought using their powers until May put an end to it. Deke comforted Daisy while she warned him about getting closer to her. She didn’t want to lose anyone else. He told her that Fitz and Simmons were his grandparents but she wasn’t surprised.

Fitz tried to apologize to Mack for his earlier actions and rationalize what happened to Ruby but he wanted none of it. While Simmons performed an autopsy on the dead alien, Daisy dropped off a solution for Coulson and Jiaying’s body and asked her to somehow combine the two.

May, Daisy, and Deke took a reconfigured zephyr into space and docked onto the alien ship. Talbot got defensive and considered it a betrayal. Hale didn’t help either. While everyone tried to talk him down, Talbot killed Hale and imprisoned the others

The last scene was of the Kasius ogling Daisy thus explaining their interest that led to them later taking control of the Earth.

Overall, this was a good episode that felt a little rushed while establishing Talbot as the probable villain for the remainder of the season. His powers have gotten to his head and he wasn’t the most stable-minded to begin with. While he has been marginalized for most of the series, his new attitude was difficult to take seriously, especially after killing Hale. Hopefully, the Thanos name drop won’t be the only connection to Infinity War. Not much happened besides the spaceship drama but at least Daisy and Deke had a nice moment. Daisy and Yo-Yo disagreement ended too quickly as well. With only 2 episode left in the season/series it will be exciting to see how it will end and if it will further connect to Infinity War.

Score: 8/10
