While this week’s episode of iZombie wasn’t absolutely horrible, it did feel a tad bit slow and uneventful. Liv ate the brain of a cop and I wasn’t extremely amused by this particular character she had to play. But nonetheless, there were funny moments embedded throughout the episode that made it bearable enough to watch.

The episode begins at Filmore-Graves where Major is the target of ridicule by his fellow soldiers after he saved Chase’s life last week. He has been promoted to teacher’s pet and everyone including Chase are stopping at nothing to make fun of him for it.

If you recall, Isobel is somehow immune to the zombie virus which means her days are numbered. During a phone call to her mom, she tells her she plans to stay in New Seattle while Ravi will do tests on her to see if she is the key to the cure. Isobel’s mother speaks with Ravi and asks him to care of her daughter–no matter what. Ravi, Liv, and Isobel decide to binge-watch Zombie High to distract themselves from Isobel’s inevitable fate.

Meanwhile, Dale interrogates Blaine and Don E in connection with the Mayor’s murder. Things are sort of against them because she ate the Mayor’s brains earlier and knows the last place he was seen in was at the Scratching Post and with a masked individual that shot him dead.

Liv continues to act as Renegade and handles business while saving dying humans from their fate. Isobel joins her in the cause as a continued distraction from her own fate. Detective Benedetto re-emerges in this week’s episode but it is short-lived when he is shot in a church.

Back at the morgue, Clive and Liv investigate Benedetto’s body as Clive reveals a group of criminals may be responsible for his death. Instead of cooking the brain into one of her delicious meals, Liv opts to eat the brain “raw”.

Blaine is still having his weekly lunches with Angus but this week takes an odd turn. Angus tells him that he hears the voice of God through Blaine. Interesting, wouldn’t you say?

Watching Liv on Benedetto’s brain is somewhat hilarious but felt a bit over-the-top. When they interrogate one of the suspects for Benedetto’s murder, she channels his Brooklyn side. And later, she attacks someone while on a stake-out and is suspended by Dale for her actions. And although the suspect doesn’t pan out, he does provide a lead to someone else that is the head of the Blue Cobras.

Angus gets weirder in the episode when during a sermon he brings out Blaine’s old nanny and punishes her for hurting Blaine as a child. Her punishment? Unleashing a room full of zombies onto her as Blaine watches in disbelief.

Curtis, one of Liv’s group members, is caught by Filmore-Graves, and begs to be turned into a zombie but Chase refuses. He wants to know who the new Renegade is and if he doesn’t share the news, he will kill him. Thanks to Ravi’s eavesdropping, they learn where Curtis is being held and Liv ends up scratching him.

In all this madness, Major figures out that Liv is the new Renegade when he finds a tracker hidden in his pocket. He goes to confront over the dangerous nature of what she has involved herself in.

Will he expose Liv’s operation as Renegade? Or will he allow her to continue? With just a few episodes left before the season finale, we sure hope he chooses Liv’s side because we’re tired of him being the bad guy!

Score: 6.5/10
