Life Sentence Season 1 Episode 11: Frisky Business Review

Synopsis: Stella is given the opportunity to help plan an event for the hospital, which touches a nerve for Dr. Grant; Aiden spends money without consulting Wes, forcing Wes to find an investor that no one is happy about; Peter learns about Ida’s dream. (TVGuide)

With only two episodes left, why, oh, why does Life Sentence insist on breaking our hearts by creating a bigger rift between Stella and Wes? After the last couple of episodes focused on their marriage problems, they begin this week finally on the same page and making progress. However, things frustratingly took a horrible turn and now with the series finale upon us, who knows how this will all end.

Stella and Wes begin the episode deciding they no longer need therapy and tell their counselor they are on the same page about stopping. And while this seems like a great idea, they quickly learn they’re not quite ready for it. Apart from their marriage, Wes is frustrated with Aiden as they set up their bar. Aiden is spending money quickly and going through their fund unnecessarily. This puts them in a predicament and in need of an investor.

After getting fed up with him, Wes gets a call from Pippa (yes, Pippa) and she offers to find them an investor. And on Stella’s side of things, she offers to help Dr. Grant through a rough time as he deals with his family. Stella and Wes speak to one another about Pippa and Dr. Grant being in their lives, and this takes them right back to therapy over the discomfort of it.

They decide they can trust one another and just have to be open to discussing whatever is bothering them. Stella gets involved in helping run the hospital’s bone marrow drive and in order to help out Wes and Aiden with their bar, they decide to have the drive there on opening night.

Peter decides to officially divorce Ida since his relationship is getting serious, and while Ida struggles to sign the papers at first, she decides to move on once and for all. She sets her eyes on finishing up her art degree but realizes she will not be able to afford it. Diego tells Peter about Ida’s predicament in hopes that he can help her out. Because he is a professor, his spouse is entitled to free tuition and he decides to help Ida out and not finalize the marriage until she is done with school.

The night of the bar opening/bone marrow drive arrives and with it loads of drama. Instead of Pippa finding them an investor, she offers to be their investor. However, Wes and Aiden turn her down because it would lead to a very complicated situation. She ends up coming to the drive anyway after Stella invites her–but it was a grave mistake. She is overly friendly with Wes and not only does it not sit well with Stella, but Wes tells her they can’t be close anymore.

Dr. Grant shows up after his horrible day to support Stella and after giving a drunken, emotional speech about getting people to donate their bone marrow, he walks out of the bar. Stella chases after him and they have a heartfelt moment but then Dr. Grant kisses her–and Wes sees them. Ugh. Of course, an upset Wes gets Pippa’s attention and she follows him out–and then they kiss. WHY?!

Looks like things are going to get pretty bad between Stella and Wes, and we have no idea where their relationship will end by the series finale. But please, can they just end the series on a happy note?! It is pretty sad that this series is coming to an end because it truly did have potential and it was such a light-hearted show (for the most part). Let’s hope that the last two episodes don’t disappoint!
