Other than another Annalise take down in court and a few more revelations that may or may not connect Gabriel to Bonnie’s missing son and also a few more characters that survived during the wedding, there wasn’t much else to be had here. It has to fill out its 15 episode season anyway so its serialized elements occasionally must take a backseat so what better way to do that than to have Annalise and her clinic win appeals on all her class action client cases?

The episode started with Bonnie taking Laurel’s baby Christopher from out in the snow and went back 2.5 months to the present with everybody in their new lives. Laurel was having an especially hard time at trying to take care of Christopher while going to school. Asher needed something to do since he failed to get into Annalise’s class. Speaking of class, they prepared to take on their first client, an immigrant muslim woman named Nanda Hashim (Ramona DuBarry) accused of vehicular manslaughter in the death of her wife. She accepted a plea deal as she believed that she had no other choice. Michaela took the lead here.

The episode saw the Keating 4 get closer to Gabriel. Meanwhile, Tegan was unhappy with Michaela and Laurel back at Caplan & Gold. Michaela handled herself admirably in court but things got worse for her and Annalise when Hashim’s credibility came into question. Hashim assured them that her marriage was not a lie. Their target then shifted to deceased’ kids and how they may have bullied Hashim into accepting the plea. Meanwhile, Crawford was watching Annalise so he could keep an eye on their investment. He also wanted her to take a case, however, she wasn’t interested.

The team found evidence connecting one of the deceased’s children to a racist website so Michaela wanted to take them down on the stand and get them to admit to killing their mother. When faced with the pressure of the situation, she handed the reigns back to Annalise and take them down she did while also getting Hashim released. Meanwhile, Laurel had been having a hard time finding daycare for Christopher so she appeared to blackmail Caplan & Gold into having them allow Christopher into their daycare.

Frank was continuing his own investigation into Gabriel until he was stalled when he seemed prepared by having an unclonable flip phone. He then started a relationship with Gabriel’s roommate in order to have kicked out of where he was living.

The lab tech that Nate talked to actually figured out where Bonnie’s son’s DNA sample came from and it came from Washington D.C.. The son was an abandoned infant. When he traveled to D.C. to get a file on the case, he was stopped again for not having a DA’s signature. Meanwhile, Bonnie kept rejecting Miller’s advances but things got worse for them when Asher kept pestering them about an internship for long enough until Miller gave in. Bonnie was conflicted as she was developing feelings for Miller.

Nate eventually got Miller’s signature. As retribution for withholding Laurel’s presence in her clinic, Annalise had to take on the case she initially passed on. Since Gabriel got kicked out, he moved into Wes’ old apartment which was just across the hall from Asher. Frank wanted him there so he can have him surveilled. Annalise and Bonnie had dinner and Annalise tore Bonnie down once again before coming back together. The abandoned infant was kidnapped from the hospital 20 years prior by an unknown woman.

Going back to the wedding flashforward, Bonnie was tending to Christopher and Michaela and Laura came into the washroom. Laurel took Christopher but Michaela noticed blood on Bonnie. She asked her who it belonged to, however, Bonnie remained silent.

Overall, this was another good episode that advanced the season albeit slightly while giving us some more answers although not many about the flashforward besides who survives. They clearly couldn’t focus on it for too long but at least they gave us a compelling enough case and gave Asher something to do while the others were in Annalise’s class. It will be interesting to see where this dynamic, as well as Bonnie and Miller, will go from here. Gabriel may be Bonnie’s missing baby (I initially thought it was Annalise’s) though who really knows? In terms of the person who died at the wedding, maybe it’s Nate or Miller but again, who really knows?

Score: 8.5/10
