You’ve seen other writers make their picks but it’s my turn so now, here are my personal picks for the top 10 best and worst films of 2018. Stay tuned for more picks from our other writers.

Best Films of 2018

When looking back at the year, it was hard to pinpoint a definitive top 10 list because there were so many fantastic films throughout the past 12 months. No one genre dominated the year as a huge variety of truly profound and thoroughly entertaining films graced our screens. Some of my picks may be surprising, and it was surprising to see some completely missing from other lists, but these were the films that stuck with and really impacted me for weeks after seeing them.

Honourable Mentions: You Were Never Really Here, A Quiet Place, Bad Times at the El Royale, Love, Simon, Black Panther

10. Overlord
9. Upgrade
8. A Star is Born
7. Searching
6. BlacKkKlansman
5. Green Book
4. Incredibles 2
3. Avengers: Infinity War
2. Mission: Impossible – Fallout
1. Annihilation

Worst Films of 2018

Now onto the stinkers of 2018. This year may have had its fair share of great, thought-provoking films, it was also filled with plenty of bitter, boring and truly abysmal ones. It should come as no surprise to me that many of the films below are Netflix Originals showing their focus on quantity over quality, but the genres are pretty spread out. These films were just hard to finish and ended up making this list because after going back to reflect on them they left a sour taste in my mouth.

Dishonorable Mentions: The Week Of, Colette, 7 Days in Entebbe, Like Father, The Cloverfield Paradox

10. The Nutcracker and the Four Realms
9. Juliet, Naked
8. Father of the Year
7. The Legacy of a Whitetail Deer Hunter
6. Extinction
5. Submergence
4. Tau
3. Fifty Shades Freed
2. The Titan
1. The 15:17 to Paris
