This week’s episode of The Flash, “Memorabilia”, took us through the depths of Nora’s mind as the mission to wake Cicada’s niece up begins. This plan was decided upon after Barry realized that just like him Cicada is a father (well, uncle). And the best way to appeal to him is through the one thing he cares about the most–Grace. Thanks to Sherloque, a device exists that would allow them to go into Grace’s mind and hopefully wake her from the coma she’s trapped in.

There is one catch to this, however. It’s not exactly safe to go in on your own so Sherloque says whenever they do, it has to be in pairs. And because of this, both people would be able to see each other’s memories. This is a bit alarming for Nora because she has some secrets she’d rather her father not see. Willing to go to any lengths to make sure her memories are exposed to no one, Nora decides to venture into Grace’s mind on her own.

When she enters Grace’s mind, Nora finds herself at the SCPD with a young Grace sitting on the bench. And there’s one slight problem, the portal is no longer there for Nora to return home through. For some reason, Grace is able to talk to Nora and together the two of them try to find where the portal has gone. This leads them to Cicada’s apartment where he starts feeding his niece a hearty breakfast on the morning of the fair that would put her into a coma.

Back at S.T.A.R. Labs, the team discovered what Nora has done, and as a result, Barry and Iris are sent in after her. But it’s not Grace’s memories they enter, it’s Nora’s. They too end up at the SCPD but this time they see a young Nora realizing where they’ve ended up. As they follow young Nora around, they end up getting a glimpse at the future Flash museum and let’s just say Barry couldn’t be more pleased with all the love his future self gets. Also, who else noticed the Flash/Cicada comic sitting in the store?!

Ending up in the Hall of Villains, Iris and Barry see Iris’ future self run in after young Nora and scold her for disappearing. It’s a bit heartbreaking to see the past Iris disheartened over how she would go on to treat her daughter. Going back to Nora and Grace, the two of them end up in Grace’s hospital room where Nora finds out that Grace has been alert in some capacity this entire time. Even though she’s been in a coma, she has heard everything that has been said.

In both sets of memories, Iris/Barry and Nora had to face the defense mechanisms that appeared in front of them–Reverse Flash for Barry and Iris and Cicada for Nora. It turns out that defeating these mechanisms was the only way to make the portals appear again and return home safely. Side note: Caitlin and Sherloque were able to “call” and communicate with Iris, Barry, and Nora and share this piece of information. The location of these mechanisms would be a memory that wasn’t as it appeared.

Barry realized that this was the moment between young Nora and Iris which in reality was actually very sweet, and for Nora, it was when she was in Cicada’s apartment. Hopping from one set of memories to another, Iris and Barry left Nora’s to enter Grace’s, grab Nora before Lady Cicada (yes, Lady!) got her, and then make it back to the lab.

Nora seemed to escape any memories being revealed to her father, but with Sherloque around, that may not last for too long. But let’s move onto the happier part of the episode that focuses on Iris’ future newspaper, Central City Citizen. Ralph’s building has an opening in it, and Iris hesitantly thinks about starting her own newspaper there. When she realizes that she can’t change the name (remember it’s a name she already knows exists in the future), Iris begins to doubt if she should move forward with it.

Nora and Barry have other plans and end up surprising her with the office as Nora revealed that future headlines are already beginning to change. And finally, after what has felt like forever, Nora and Iris are on the same page. Nora comes clean about the fact that her angsty attitude towards her mother in the future was always going to be there to no fault of Iris’. But she understands now that it was all out of love and protection, so all is forgiven. Aww.

As the episode came to a close, we got a look at Lady Cicada a little more closely. She is…drum roll…Grace! It’s little Grace all grown-up and she is determined to make everyone pay. Uh oh. But hey plus side, Cisco has figured out a way to make the cure! But what do we think about Barry wanting to use it on Cicada?

Score: 7/10
