Where is Laurel?
The episode would start by going back to Nate Sr.’s meeting with Laurel’s brother Xavier (Gerardo Celasco). He tried to poach him from Annalise. Nate Sr.’s wasn’t buying any of it. Annalise started attacking Laurel but Frank defended her seeing that she had no idea about Xavier’s involvement. Nonetheless, she would vow to try and fix it. Meanwhile, Telesco tried to get Gabriel to turn against Annalise.
Annalise met with Birkhead to confront her on her fake evidence. She would deny everything as Crawford was arrested by the FBI. Annalise tried to ask Tegan for help but she no longer wanted to be anywhere near the Castillos. Meanwhile, the episode flashed back to a parking garage encounter between Miller and Xavier who offered him help to become DA. Ultimately, this was just a plan to use his feeling towards Annalise so they can both get back at her for what she had done to them.
Asher and Laurel were worried for their future, one about the FBI murder board and the other about who would take care of Christopher if something were to happen to her (she wanted Connor and Oliver to be Christopher’s legal guardians). Meanwhile, Annalise met with Crawford to offer to help him. Also, Bonnie would find herself reanalyzing all her interactions with Miller as they suspected he and Xavier of working together. (Miller was considering not running for DA as he seemed legitimately scared but he would end up taking Xavier up on his offer).
Nate confronted the warden of Nate Sr.’s prison about Xavier but he claimed that Xavier wasn’t involved. He made an exception for Miller by doing the transfer at night. Meanwhile, The FBI had Annalise and Tegan on tape from before they knew that Crawford wasn’t guilty (which the FBI would misinterpret). Gabriel asked Michaela for help finding something on Annalise so that Telesco wouldn’t go after his mother. He also told her about a potential immunity agreement for Laurel that Telesco offered. News about that didn’t sit well with the others. She would prove her loyalty to them.
Frank found one of the officers who killed Nate Sr. and they admitted to getting paid by Xavier (he may or may not have killed her afterwards). Meanwhile, Tegan would put herself in the crosshairs by coming forward with evidence that would implicate the Castillos in Nate Sr.’s murder while revealing herself to be Jane Doe. The others would have an idea to save Gabriel and take down Telesco which would be to bring up the fact that she failed to protect Sandrine from being scalped but getting everyone to buy in was easier said than done (though they eventually all agreed and it appeared to have worked and Gabriel was certainly happy about the news).
Laurel and Annalise would track down Xavier. He claimed to not know what happened to Sandrine. He would also get played by Miller who tried to have the transfer at night to get away from Xavier’s influence but he still got his way. Annalise would give him a piece of her mind in a way that only she could, accusing him of working with Birkhead to taker her down. A call Xavier made to her after they left confirmed it. He told Birkhead that they knew more and that they would need to undergo some sort of next step.
Oliver was looking into Michaela’s birth parents and discovered that Annalise knew her father. Meanwhile, Birkhead made a public address to deny her office’s connections to Nate Sr. and Miller. She attacked the FBI for what she called a smear campaign. The same officer who told Frank that Xavier paid her Nate Sr. told Bonnie that the hit was ordered by Miller. This was all a plan by Frank and Annalise. Bonnie told Nate.
Birkhead pointed the finger at Crawford who was busy celebrating with Tegan. She had stepped out for a moment but while she was away, he appeared to have consumed something that left him struggling on the floor. Meanwhile, Annalise lost Laurel and Christopher is missing.
Overall, Please Say No One Else Is Dead was a great season finale episode of How To Get Away With Murder. Those looking for more of a resolution for all the subplots of the season will be disappointed due to the cliffhanger ending but what this episode did offer a tension-filled episode that was compelling to watch. The episode didn’t provide too many answers, however, everything is pretty much in the open now as the season’s main arc was Birkhead and Xavier (and maybe Jorge) Castillo wanting revenge against Annalise. Miller and Crawford were innocent though the latter may be joining the former soon. Though Gabriel appears to be free and clear, where does he go from here? What about Frank and Annalise’s plan? The seeds have been planted so hopefully they will blossom into an exciting season 6 if the series should be renewed.
