Rating Summary
A Girl from Arizona, Part 1 was a fun premiere that saw our lovable group again get themselves into more hijinks while setting up what is to come.

This was a series that I recently caught onto late but I’m glad I did. Too bad it’s ending.

Synopsis: With Eleanor assuming the role of the architect, the group adapts to the challenges facing them when four test subjects inhabit a new neighborhood under their supervision. (IMDb)

With this season being the last for The Good Place, it will certainly be intriguing to see where they chose to take our lovable characters. The last season ended with our group, including a recently mind-wiped Chidi, trying to their worth prove once and for all by conducting yet another experiment in their pseudo Good Place with four new subjects for which we’ve already met two, Simone (Kirby Howell-Baptiste) and John (Brandon Scott Jones).

A Girl from Arizona, Part 1 started with Eleanor re-introducing Chidi to the pseudo Good Place for which he was amazed (especially the philosophy book summoning) though she sort took it personally when he couldn’t remember her name. Meanwhile, as the group was carving out their battle plan, so were Shawn and the Bad Place. The third new subject was an utterly boring woman named Linda (Rachel Winfree) who seemed so unimpressed with it all (though in a somewhat suspicious way). The last subject was an insufferable man named Brent. The group figured that the four subjects were plants by the Bad Place to get under their skin.

Watching the group was a representative for the Judge named Matt. In order to get ahead of things, the group needed to learn everything they could about the new arrivals. However, when they thought they had a grip on Simone, she refused to believe that her surroundings were real and just a figment of her imagination so she did not care (like Eleanor used to not care). The others wanted to utilize Chidi to help but Eleanor was skeptical (if only to avoid putting the two together since she was still in love with him). Their eventual meeting was surprisingly uneventful. Meanwhile, Derek was tormenting Jason because he was still in love with the overworked Janet therefore he went to Mindy’s house to murder him.

To make Linda grow out of her shell, the group brought back flying day which didn’t have the result they were looking for as she was merely a demon in disguise (and not a human). As a result, the Judge named Chidi the new fourth subject.

This was definitely a good start though in the end, it was just nice to see everyone again.
