The Walking Dead (10×15) The Tower Review

Synopsis: The communities prepare for the final battle of the Whisperer War; meanwhile, Eugene’s group encounters Princess. (IMDb)

With the coronavirus delaying post-production on next week’s planned season finale, this will be the last episode of The Walking Dead for a while which is definitely disappointing and suffice it to say that the season is not left off on a good note.

The Tower began with Eugene, Ezekiel, and Yumiko officially meeting that enthusiastic woman (not to mention annoying) which we saw at the end of the last episode whose name was Princess (Paola Lázaro). She was certainly not used to taking to real people and her personality put Yumiko on edge. However, she wouldn’t make the best impression as she would scare all the horses away. As a result, they would have to head out on foot but they were also lacking in resources so like it or not, they would have to give Princess a chance even if they may not fully trust her just yet. Leading them through a minefield wasn’t a good next step which was not a necessary one (Princess was leading them on a scenic route just for fun). She just needed some friends. In the end, Princess turned things around and led everyone to some bicycles (which were still quicker than walking). Yumiko invited her to join them.

Beta (with the voice in his head but don’t call him Alpha) led his new herd into Hilltop (Alden and Aaron were hiding in the windmill). He immediately felt that something was wrong. Their next stop was Oceanside. Meanwhile, Daryl was lone-wolf-ing his way through the forest to end it but Judith showed up and wanted to help (she refused to go back and Daryl gave in as they set out to monitor the perimeter). The two found a whisper deserter (Beta was going too far) who did not have the information they were looking for so Daryl shot them in the head with an arrow as Judith watched (it affected her).

The plan appeared to be to lead the herd somewhere but of course things would not go according to plan as they decided to go in a different direction. Adding to their troubles was Alden and Aaron getting caught while trying to radio in the news. Meanwhile, Judith just wanted everyone back together again (Daryl promised he wouldn’t leave). They got a radio call from Gabriel telling them that they were getting surrounded and needed them to come back just as the episode ended with Beta and his herd heading towards a hospital. Meanwhile in various odds and ends, a bunch of characters patched things up between one another but who cares?

The last shot of the episode sets off some sort of showdown but again, who cares?
