Today marks the fifth year anniversary of keithlovesmovies.com. I never in my wildest dreams thought this would ever happen back on June 13th, 2015. I always loved watching movies so I was encouraged by some of my friends to write about them and from there, the rest was history. Putting my thoughts into words continues to be a cathartic experience as they somehow managed to reach a nearly worldwide audience. After seeing some success, it’s easy to want to do better and keep going though it hasn’t always been easy to do. Now five years and almost 5,500 posts later, the site has cemented itself as more than just a one person operation. Thanks to a team of part-time writers spanning North America and the UK, we have increased are movie review coverage while also expanding into television and streaming content. Of course screening links, screening invites, and accreditation to some film festivals doesn’t hurt either. Meanwhile, contests are always fun to do though there haven’t been as many chances to do them lately for obvious reasons.
We would like to keep going but we can’t do it without people like you, readers and writers alike. Despite this, there is still so much more we can do but we can’t do that without writers. Any aspiring writers interested in writing about film or television are welcome to apply and submit pitches for any article and/or editorial content by clicking here. We are specifically looking for film and television reviewers and streaming reviewers but we are more than flexible in finding a place for writers if possible (I think I’m a decent guy once you get to know me). Anyone interested in providing video content is also welcome to contribute to our YouTube channel as well. Whenever movie theatres are safe to attend and screenings return, we may be able to provide access to writers in select Canadian cities and hopefully some in the United States. In the end, I want this to be an open forum and we are looking for more diverse opinions and perspectives to round out the site. We look forward to hearing from you.
We are on pace to hit the 1,000,000 view mark by later this year and there’s no reason why we can’t get there and finish the year strong. There is so much more left for us to do and hopefully the world will get back to normal soon too. I may be more of an introvert but there’s only so much of me I can take.
