Every once in a while, viewers want a film to make them feel good if not to forget about one’s troubles. Comedy is the genre that usually falls under that category because laughing is always the best medicine. Together Together is the latest comedy that is sure to leave most viewers feeling good. While the film may be simple, strong writing and a pair of stellar lead performances make it all worthwhile, taking viewers into the lives of these characters. Though it is a hilarious film, it’s also a very human and grounded one about two people looking for connection. The film tells the story of a 40-year-old man named Matt (Helms) who hires a young woman named Anna (Harrison) to be his surrogate. Over the course of the film and as their professional and personal relationships evolved into a friendship of sorts, the two would challenge each other’s perceptions of the meaning of love.

Ultimately, Together Together was at its best as it fleshed out Matt and Anna. They were interesting and surprisingly deep character just looking for some meaning in their lives despite being at different stages. That being said, their issues were similar and that was arguably what brought them closer together and maybe they weren’t ready for that kind of connection. Nevertheless, they were an awkward blast to watch together and that was again because of the writing and Helms and Harrison as Matt and Anna. Not only was the writing grounded and genuine, their performances brought the characters to life in a compelling and human way. They were the best part of the film and easily would not have worked without them.

In the end, Together Together is a simple and fun charmer worthy of a watch.
