The following is a review of the first 2 episodes of Confronting a Serial Killer

True crime buffs rejoice as Confronting a Serial Killer looks to be the next obsession. While the series certainly won’t be for everyone thanks to its dark subject matter, it’s also hard not to look away. Despite what the title suggests, the series is much more than confronting a mere serial killer as it is more about confronting one’s own physical and emotional trauma. That being said, the serial killer at the center of this docuseries, the infamous Sam Little, is pure evil, most notably strangling 90+ women over several decades. The series tracks author and journalist Jillian Lauren, a past victim of domestic violence, as she attempts to overcome that trauma and continue to move forward. Stumbling across Little over the course of a story, she became consumed by his story and finding justice for his victims both known and unknown, most of them women.

The latter would mean Lauren entering a disturbing relationship with Little in order to get him to open up and reveal details about the countless heinous crimes he’s committed over the years while also revealing names of victims and details of crimes unknown to authorities. Suffice it to say that this was not easy to watch and listen as Little showed Lauren and us the true extent of how much of an evil person he really was. Meanwhile, Confronting a Serial Killer followed Lauren as she detailed her past and how it led to the person she was today, issues and all. Her quest for justice was an outlet for her to overcome her own trauma as this journey was just as powerful one.

In the end, following both of these journeys was compelling to watch as many will be left on the edge of their seats, eagerly anticipating what will happen next and I will be one of them.
