Coming off the insane run of Zack Snyder’s Justice League, DC fans are already being treated to the next project, with the first trailer for The Suicide Squad. Fresh off his two Guardians of The Galaxy movies for Marvel, James Gunn brought his talents across the bay and into the hearts and minds of DC fans.

Now, after the so-so success of David Ayer’s Suicide Squad, with a ton of ramifications that came after its release. Much like the Snyder Cut, Ayer has told fans there is another version of his movie somewhere out there and fans are still campaigning to see it. Moving forward with James Gunn who knows a thing or two about bringing a bunch of weirdos together to form not just a team but a family.

Harley Quinn (Margot Robbie) is once again is front and center, but with a new mixed bag of characters surround her. In fact, it’s almost too many to rattle off, but most notably, we have John Cena as Peacemaker, Idris Elba has Bloodsport, and already fan-favorite King Shark voiced by the legend himself, Sly Stallone. There are so many talented people in this movie, and all of them playing their own unique character that will have a moment or two to shine and showcase their powers. Even Amanda Waller (Viola Davis) is back and ready to set some heads on fire, as the trigger-happy leader and boss of this rambunctious group.

The trailer is colorful and packed full of crud jokes and heartfelt moments. The stakes seem higher and more blood will be shed. Towards the end of the trailer, we even get a sneak peek at Starro the StarFish (weird I know) who will be the main villain in the film.

You can’t really ask for much more from a first look and this seems really promising. James Gunn is bringing his flair to the project and there is a ton to enjoy. The beautiful thing about a movie like this is everyone will latch onto a certain character. There’s something and someone for everyone, and that is always a recipe for success.

Check it out in theatres and HBO Max August 6th.
