Synopsis: A stand-off occurs between Virginia and her rangers and Morgan’s group. Ginny has made a lot of enemies and it’s finally catching up to her. (IMDb)
A thorn in the side of the main characters finally bites the dust as one character steps up. The bloodshed may seem over but it never really is over.
Thing Left to Do began with June digging Dorie’s grave, clearly still reeling from what just happened and wanted answers. Meanwhile, Virginia’s captives were lined up as she wanted answers about Morgan but didn’t get any. Threatening Morgan over the radio didn’t help as he showed up to expose her and what she did. This was enough for Strand to turn his army against her. With Virginia unhinged, all hell broke loose as she got shot and her remaining forces got away with Grace and Daniel. Taking things into his own hands, he went rogue and took Virginia to find them.
Morgan had to keep Virginia alive for obvious reasons while she desperately wanted to see her since needed to tell Dakota something in person. Dakota wasn’t her sister but rather her daughter. Sherry’s crew and their tank joined the fray soon after. After a runin with Sherry, Morgan took her to his new settlement with every other grieving party soon followed looking for some justice. Virginia offered to give Morgan Grace and Daniel and to leave his settlement alone if he killed her while Dakota would be better off staying where she was. About the perform her execution, Morgan hesitated and began to have second thoughts about what it would mean in terms of his journey and what he was trying to do. That decision did not sit well with the others who became restless.
Nevertheless, Virginia still had her moment with Dakota. The truth did not go well either. Everything Virginia did was for her daughter but all she got was hate and resentment in return. Morgan made his plea for the killing to stop and to have Virginia live for what she’s done. This unusual approach seemed to have worked as everyone was coming back to just live as he called it (Morgan and Grace are having a boy). Rabbi Kessner (Peter Jacobson) gave June a note Dorie had written for her in case he never saw him again. The only holdouts were Sherry who didn’t feel right and Strand for whom the war was not yet over.
Regarding Virginia, the final decision was to have her leave with Dakota. June had other plans. She had a daughter whom she didn’t protect after a indiscretion. With Virginia exposed, she exacted her own justice, shooting Virginia in the head with the gun used to kill Dorie and then putting on his hat and walking away and out of Morgan’s settlement in the most badass way possible. Maybe it was something in Dorie’s note that set her off? This was perhaps the strongest character moment this season with June finally killing Vignia after having saved her life twice prior. Kudos to Jenna Elfman.
