Fear The Walking Dead (6×10) Handle With Care Review

Synopsis: A threat worse than Virginia is on the horizon; Morgan calls for unity and invites all survivors to his settlement, tasking Daniel to keep the peace; however, Daniel will need to face his own challenge in hopes of protecting his friends. (IMDb)

Rubén Blades’ Daniel shines in this latest great episode of Fear the Walking Dead, acting as a character dynamic study of sorts as characters are reeling with the loss of Virginia and her impact on the current power dynamic.

Handle With Care started with the start of Daniel’s day which offered a look into the inner workings of Morgan’s new community (he’s also talking to someone) and his reflection on his life up to that point and what this new community meant to him. It’s peaceful and civilized for now, the keyword being now. There was definitely more going on here between he and Morgan.

The community got some visitors as Sherry and Strand’s forces showed up (June and Sarah were shacked up elsewhere). Morgan wanted everyone to work together against a force bigger than any one of them. He invited everyone for a conference. As Daniel continued to tell the story from his perspective, some point during that resulted in him being locked up which was where he was telling the story from (he continued from there).

Daniel and Strand made up their differences which meant a lot to Daniel. Grace saw some complications but Morgan had another place with supplies already set up. Meanwhile, the conference was about those “the end is the beginning” people (remember them?). As things got heated, an explosion occurred. The Tank Town incident was set off from someone on the inside so why not here too but who? Perhaps Daniel’s prior memory loss was something else? That explosion attracted a horde of walkers. However, the plan was to wait it out.

Unfortunately, the explosion was just a ruse to get to the locked up guns to leave everyone vulnerable against the oncoming horde. Now, it was all about finding those weapons. The walkers found a breach and got in because obviously. Daniel let them in to find out who stole the weapons. Strand just happened to have a weapon to take out some walkers. Ultimately, he wasn’t working alone. Later, they got in for real but will the people inside turn on each other first?

Daniel was transfixed on Strand until Morgan came back with the tank he borrowed to fetch supplies for Grace. Going back, she was gone until she was found soon after. Grace didn’t recall being told to go to the shack and wait for Daniel. According to her, she was told to go to the caverns and to avoid the shack because it wasn’t safe. Something is going on with Daniel and maybe this whole saga is in his head? The weapons were in his shed.

Instead of turning on each other, everyone was turning on Daniel who began doubting himself. As a result, he was  talking to June about it which was who he was talking to the whole time. His issues were psychological and not imaginary.

From there, it was all about breaking off and doing some scouting while whatever was happening next, Daniel was not going to be there for that. He couldn’t risk it for the sake of the others more than himself (Strand offered to take him with him).

It appears that they are positioning our characters for a confrontation with the spraypaint people who may or may not literally be underground for yet another conflict with a rival faction. Will this situation be any different? Probably not.
