Prodigal Son (2×10) Exit Strategy Review

Synopsis: As Malcolm distances himself from Martin, Jessica does the opposite, diving head-first into the past for the sake of her tell-all book. Meanwhile, Martin is desperate to get in touch with his son ahead of his imminent plans, as Dr. Vivian Capshaw grows increasingly suspicious. Meanwhile, the NYPD investigates a crime of passion. (IMDb)

Martin finally did it and now the game has changed.

Exit Strategy began with Capshaw performing surgery with Martin who praised her for her brilliance. Of course it was a dream. Meanwhile, Bright caught Jessica fetching items from their past for her upcoming book. He is also moving on from his father but it hadn’t been easy (Martin wouldn’t stop calling him because he needed to reach him about a matter of utmost importance which was his long-gestating master escape plan for which Capshaw may have stumbled onto). However, the discovery of an old bank key made things interesting.

The case involved the death of a woman named Rosalie whose head was bashed in. The team soon found a witness who anonymously reported the crime in the form of a hermit voyeur named Gerald Morris (Robert Joy), a former chess master with agoraphobia. Realizing they needed a warrant, they only got as far as his front entrance but Bright stayed behind much to the surprise of Morris. Rosalie’s potential boyfriend named Clayton Fielder (Elliot Villar) may be a suspect. Morris used his chess master abilities on the people in his neighborhood to study and learn about them.

Fielder informed the cops of a spat between Rosalie and Morris but their relationship was not like that as she felt bad for him and helped him out with groceries. It turned out that Rosalie’s killer may be Fielder’s twin Felix who had a contentious relationship with his brother. Trying to get to Clayton first, it would be too late as now Felix set his sights on Morris. This situation certainly put Morris’ agoraphobia to the test but Felix was no match for Dani’s car.

Bright finally responded to his father’s calls to tell him that he was done with him while his father didn’t get the chance to tell his son what he wanted. Meanwhile, Capshaw kept an eye on Friar Pete and his devious intentions with rats and rat poison. Caught, Pete threatened to expose her relationship with Martin. Interrupting her latest encounter with Martin, Jessica needed to know about his secret key. However, he had more pressing issues being his escape plan which started with making everybody sick thus forcing Capshaw to unchain him. Still trapped at Clairmont, Jessica called Gil for help though she proved that she could take care of herself.

Now that Bright convinced Morris to confront his fears, it was now his turn but unfortunately that got cut short with the news of his father’s escape. Martin wanted to tell him that he wasn’t the man he used to be despite the inevitable claims that will be made of the opposite upon news of his escape. He left that as a message as the episode ended with the shock and disbelief on Bright’s face.
