Stop motion animation films can sometimes be a little jarring to watch. When it comes to The Old Man Movie, there was something about this one that clicked from beginning to end. In the end, this film is certainly not like anything most viewers have ever seen. It really is that unique.
The Old Man Movie is about milk. There’s no beating about the bush; that is how the film is marketed. It is a crazy journey that begins with an older man who essentially begins to lose his mind over milking his cow. Meanwhile, another cow runs away from its owner, forcing others to find it before its udder explodes. The animation is just as unique as the premise and is unlike any other stop motion animated films in recent memory. Despite the deformed appearance of many of the characters which was surely an intentional choice, it is still funny to see these strange expressions on their weird and deformed faces. Upon standing back and truly admiring the level of detail on display here, it really is some truly amazing stuff. That being said, beware as the film features some parts that were clearly made for adults. Suffice it to say that this film should not be shown to kids even though it may look perfectly harmless on paper.
Overall, The Old Man Movie is a unique, strange, yet also interesting journey of a family and their connection with their cows. The film is definitely one of the most unique experiences and that is not something that this reviewer says lightly.
