You Can Run put Bright's relationship with his father and that with the law to the test in a compelling episode led by a great performance from Tom Payne.

Synopsis: After a terrifying incident at Claremont, Malcolm is in a race against time to track down multiple killers. The NYPD realizes someone close to home might be the key to finding them. (IMDb)

The chase is on as Malcolm is forced to face his relationship with his father while a key storyline is coming together and it will certainly be interesting to see where that one goes, without giving anything away.

You Can Run… of course refers to what the team is now facing with Martin, Friar Pete, and Hector (Armando Acevedo) escaping from Claremont and prompting the U.S. Marshalls and Marshall Emily Ruiz (April Hernandez Castillo) to lead the manhunt. The episode started with a flashback to remind us of the kind of man Martin was and the contrast between Bright and Ainsley. When it comes to Martin, finding him was not going to be easy.

The first stop was with Capshaw who was more embarrassed than anything else for what she did that led to Martin’s escape. Bright picked up on that and her deception but he played her just as he’s played him plenty of times in the past (she and Jessica also spent some quality time together bonding over their shared experiences with Martin). The team found the getaway ambulance but of course the fugitives were gone though a few murdered paramedics remained, just not ones killed by Martin. Presumably looking for supplies, Bright’s apartment was broken into. Meanwhile, his place in all of this was tenuous at best. He even admitted he wasn’t okay.

Upon finding the next getaway vehicle, Bright stumbled into a bowling alley where he found Friar Pete and things got heated. Nevertheless, as he seemed to be making progress in finding his father’s location, Pete was taken out by Ruiz. A cellphone was found with Pete whose only number was Ainsley’s so she could tend to her daddy issues and not for any more malicious intentions. As JT was assigned to watch Jessica (they were each pariahs for different reasons), it was discovered that the mysterious key was for a safety deposit box which Martin had under an alias.

The next stop was a secluded farm house with a connection to Martin’s safety deposit box alias. The name was used to secretly buy an agricultural plane and as hush money.  In that plane was Martin’s getaway kit (also containing one of Bright’s childhood toys). Unfortunately, Bright and Gil stumbled onto a hostage situation. About to go into things alone, Ruiz showed up as she and Gil were continuously sharing information behind Bright’s back. After the marshalls did their thing, it was only Hector behind the hostage situation. The misdirect was all Martin’s plan.

Going back to Capshaw, Bright saw her clear out her things after being fired but as she got to her car, it was implied that Martin was in her trunk the whole time and she was in on it the whole time.

Think about it, Martin and Capshaw make for great partners in crime. If only, it’s another excuse to keep Martin Sheen and Catherine Zeta-Jones together which is never a bad thing.
