The main story essentially takes a break as this latest episode as the relationship between Omega and Hunter is put on display.
While the last episode put the team together and sent them on their way to find some new purpose away from the Empire, getting away from them was clearly going to be easier said than done if this latest episode was of any indication. Meanwhile, the impact of Omega (Michelle Ang) started being felt here as she got to leave the only planet she ever knew and began to experience life outside of Kamino and just life in general for the first time while the clones had to learn how to raise a child. Though any hints at the ultimate endgame of the season remain to be seen, Cut and Run was still a compelling episode that did have its moments, action and story wise.
The episode saw the team visit an old acquaintance, a fellow deserter named Cut who was now hiding off the grid, for some advice. The new surroundings were an adjustment for Omega though it did mean some fellow kids for her to play with though her naivety would get her in trouble. That being said, their current planet wasn’t safe either as part of the Empire’s imposing of their new powers.
In order to leave, they would each need a chain code which was just a new way to log everyone. Getting ones were going to be a risky operation, even more so with Omega involved unbeknownst to the others. There were complications of course with the others waiting at the ship depot for the codes while Tech and Echo worked at getting them. Little did Omega know, she was positioned to go with Cut and his family. Meanwhile, the other clone troopers stumbled onto what was happening and Cut’s involvement as a shootout ensued. It went back and forth but nevertheless, everyone just got away.
Omega stayed with Clone Force 99. She made some mistakes but she was willing to learn. Also, she wasn’t the only one who needed to learn and Hunter was willing to keep her around as long as she wanted and learn which was a cute moment. Here’s to more adventures in the near future!
