Synopsis: Cisco and Kamila tell the team they are leaving Central City; a new version of Rainbow Raider strikes and the team must join together one final time to save the city. (IMDb)
Of course, it would take for a beloved character to leave for The Flash to give us a decent episode. Last week, we said goodbye to Cisco Ramon, someone who has brought so much laughter, humor, and lightheartedness to the series over the years. The farewell episode kicked off with Cisco and Kamilla telling Team Flash they are taking their talents to other cities. Kamilla will be doing a gallery show in Miami while Cisco is heading to Star City to take on the role of the ARGUS Director of Technology and Science.
Cisco was expecting a tearful reaction, but the group was rather cheerful with the news and was excited for the two to start a new chapter in their lives. Everything seems to be happening rather quickly as Barry packs up all of Cisco’s things without telling him and Caitlin conveys a message from Frost and then asks Cisco to hand over his badge and codes. Feeling down about everyone’s reaction, Cisco takes Chester to the room that holds all of the things that Cisco has invented over the years. Team Flash has had to face some rather peculiar situations over the years, which has required Cisco to come up with never-before-heard-of objects. Chester is going to have one heck of a time rummaging through all of that.
Putting aside his feelings, Cisco decides to help out the Flash with one final case involving Rainbow Raider 2.0 (Jona Xiao). She makes people feel very happy, which helps Cisco make the connection to Roy G. Bivolo who made people angry. Later in the episode, Cisco gets smacked by Rainbow Raider’s powers and becomes super happy. He’s prancing around singing and is in such a glorious mood that Chester has to watch over him for the next day. In his happy state of mind, Cisco assumes that everyone is throwing him a surprise going-away party.
His antics continue when The Flash tries to track down Rainbow Raider 2.0 but is hit with a display of dancing cats. Cisco decided to mess with him and ultimately it caused the Flash to get hit with the happy powers. What follows is probably Grant Gustin’s best arc on The Flash in a long time. Both Cisco and Barry are acting silly around the lab, even doing some break-dancing along the way.
Once things got back to normal, Cisco shared that Carrie stole a blimp that they won’t be able to trace, so Barry suggests he gets something from A.R.G.U.S. to help. Cisco has had enough of everyone’s mood and snaps at Barry for everything he’s been pent-up inside of him. Cisco reveals that all day he has felt neglected by his best friends, and it seems like they don’t even care that he is leaving. The two of them explain that they have been just doing that for Cisco’s sake because if they showed their true feelings, they’d be sad all day and put a damper on his final moments with Team Flash.
Barry figures out Rainbow Raider’s plan which was to give all the money she’s been stealing away. She wants to help other people out, but before she can go through with her plans, Team Flash stops her. Instead of sending her off to Iron Heights, Barry suggests that she find work with the city’s economic commission. Her efforts will not go wasted there. Unfortunately, their problems don’t end there. The blimp’s system gets fried, and if it happens to crash, it will explode causing trouble for Central City. Cisco ends up staying behind on it after Barry gets everyone else off and uses parts of his suit to help get the blimp functioning. He ends up saving the day, marking his final day with Team Flash as a success.
Cisco does indeed get a surprise going-away party at the lab, while Kamila is having on at the Citizen. They both to get spend their final moments with the team in a beautiful way, and with the people they care about the most. As one final montage plays out with all of Cisco’s best moments, we bid farewell to a beloved character. We will miss you Cisco!
Of course, The Flash couldn’t end there and finally addressed why Cecile has been acting so strange lately. At the end of the episode, we learn she is being haunted by something and when she steps in front of a mirror, a mask appears over her face with a voice saying, “I will find you”. Well, then.
