Synopsis: When Ultraviolet returns to Central City, Allegra is determined to find her cousin and change her heart; Joe finds evidence that Kristen Kramer may not be the good cop she appears to be. (IMDb)

This week on The Flash, Barry and Iris step away from the duties of Team Flash, to ahem, work on their family. Basically, they’re getting it on, and are ready to have kids. Meanwhile, Chester, Sue, Allegra, and Caitlin held the fort back at S.T.A.R. Labs.

Even though Barry is not around, the team is determined to do things the way he would. That’s not always the best decision, in my opinion, but it seemed to work out this week when it came to Allegra’s dilemma. Her cousin, Ultraviolet  returned and Allegra was determined to make her see the good side. Barry does it all the time so it must be pretty easy, right? Wrong.

This is quite possibly the least entertaining storyline for a secondary character, but yet the series refuses to let it go. In any case, there were some intriguing moments from the episode especially when we learn how Ultraviolet got her powers. Due to the trauma she endured in the past, she came to have powers. Knowing this tidbit about her changes our perspective on her simply being a villain. Her mission is to prevent the doctor that hurt her from hurting anyone else which is understandable.

Allegra and Ultraviolet’s dynamic in this week’s episode is fascinating, to say the least. It’s a very strong love/hate relationship that seemingly bounces back forth faster than a tennis match. But what we get from this week’s episode is a lesson on seeing past the title of hero vs. villain. There is always a more complicated layer that one should try to understand to see where the person is coming from and what their mission truly is.

Sue is back in action with Team Flash, and it’s fun to see her take on a role we haven’t seen much of on this show. She was sort of hiding behind Ralph’s shadow for so long but now that she’s finally on her own, it’s cool to see Sue doing her own thing, as boring as it may be. She essentially takes on the role of Allegra’s mentor and makes sure that whatever decisions she’s making are sound and logical. She’s not as successful as Wells used to be, but it’s still nice to her try. Of course, she is dealing with Allegra who doesn’t want to listen to a word she says.

But despite that, Sue still respects Allegra and is dead-set on keeping her safe, unlike Chester and Frost who sort of just ignored Allegra’s plea for help. The one enjoyable part of the episode was watching Sue kick some major butt as she rescued Allegra. Let’s have more of that! By the end of the episode, Allegra seems to find a way to connect to Ultraviolet. Specifically, she gets Caitlin to agree to help figure out what’s going on with Ultraviolet, and how they can help rid her of her unwanted powers. Considering Caitlin is on the case, Ultraviolet will surely be back to normal in no time.

The other storyline from this week is that of Joe and Detective Kramer. It’s nice to see the series finally gave Joe something to do this season. It’s unclear if Martin is going to leave soon or if he’s just willingly not wanting much of a role in the story, but he’s been super M.I.A.

It was nice to see him take some action and confront Kramer with the files he had found. She’s super reluctant and defensive when he tries to give it to her, but later she redeems herself by sharing what happened. As it turns out, she refused to listen to a dear friend during her time serving, and it came at a very costly price–a lot of her men dying. She doesn’t want that to get out, but it’s also a lot to do with the fact that she can’t face that horrible truth.

Perhaps we’ll finally see Joe front and center for whatever is left this season. But the jury is still out on that one because this is The Flash we’re talking about.

Until next week, folks!
