The Flash marks the return of Godspeed(s) during this week's unnecessary episode where Iris seems to be MIA--for no reason whatsoever.

Synopsis: When an army of Godspeeds attack Central City, Barry and Iris must put their family plans on hold and focus on the latest threat to their home; Chillblaine is released from prison and claims to be reformed but Frost has her doubts. (IMDb)

This week marks the return of Godspeed(s), and it’s not as exciting as one might have hoped. This is a villain that we should enjoy seeing upon his return, but The Flash once again lets us down. Not to mention, this episode was focused heavily on the assumption that Iris might be pregnant because of a dream Barry had. In this dream, he sees Nora, his and Iris’ daughter from the future, and he takes that to mean that perhaps Iris is pregnant in the present.

Waking up, he immediately calls Iris and tells her about the dream, and they decide that she’ll do a urine and blood test to see whether or not she is. The strange part of this episode, however, is that we never actually see Iris. She’s always on the phone or in the background somewhere, but we never actually get to see Patton on screen. It’s unclear if there’s a reason behind that, but it was definitely strange to see her just MIA from the episode.

Barry can’t contain his enthusiasm over the fact that Iris may be pregnant, in fact, he treats it as if she already is for sure. It’s not always the best way to go about these things as he eventually learns. But watching Barry’s excitement and having to sneak around Chester, Caitlin, and Cecile is quite hilarious. He and Iris don’t want to tell anyone just yet, especially since they haven’t confirmed it themselves but Barry definitely has a difficult time trying to hide it.

In the midst of this, chaos descends up on Central City when an army of Godspeeds begins to attack. In the comics, Godspeed is so incredibly cool and exciting, but in the series, not so much. They just didn’t do a good job with Godspeed, and bringing in a whole army of them didn’t make the character any cooler. Barry had to take a step back to deal with the situation with Chester’s help, and it eventually worked out. But yeah, there wasn’t much of importance to say about that whole dilemma.

Meanwhile, Chillblaine’s recent release from prison leads him to Frost in an attempt to show her that he’s a changed man. She’s not so quick to believe him, and he certainly has to work hard to prove himself. It’s just a secondary storyline that doesn’t bring much to the episode except an extremely good-looking villain that makes it all worth watching.

After all the chaos, Barry finally gets around to testing Iris’ blood and urine only to learn that she isn’t pregnant. He is quite devastated by the revelation, but he does know that he and Iris will have a daughter in the future, so at least there’s that? Plus, we’re getting closer to the Impulse reveal which will introduce Jordan Fisher as the titular character, and Iris and Barry’s son. Maybe The Flash is changing things up with the Barry children!

At the end of the episode, Joe and Kristen are hiding out in a car to learn more about someone from Kristen’s past. Something seems very wrong but by the time Joe realizes and tries to get him and Kristen out of the car, it blows up. Is Joe actually dead? And would anyone actually be surprised given he’s barely been in the season?

Tune in next week to find out!
