On the movie side, with the arrival of A Quiet Place Part II to Amazon Prime Video (Canada) and Paramount+ (United States), it shouldn’t come as a surprise as many will want to catch up with or rewatch one of the biggest films of the year which just happened to be released in theatres before the lifting of lockdowns across several parts of both Canada and the United States. Meanwhile, the original also performed strong with the release of the sequel presumably prompting catch-up rewatches. Along those lines, nostalgia was a driving force following the release of Space Jam: A New Legacy as it and the original Space Jam also appearing near the top of both streaming charts with the reboot of course available on HBO Max in the United States and as a PVOD rental in Canada alongside its theatrical release. New Netflix release Gunpowder Milkshake also performed well in both countries.
On the television side, Rick and Morty was a strong performer in Canada and the United States with both countries in the midst of the series’ fifth season. The upcoming release of the second season of Ted Lasso this Friday meant some catch up watches in anticipation. Meanwhile fans of the recently-cancelled series Manifest showed their support and new HBO limited series The White Lotus charted following the airing of its second episode and new Peacock series Dr. Death also made the United States streaming list.
