Maisel vs. Lennon: The Cut Contest featured a showdown between the titular two female comics that did not disappoint.

That man that Midge took home at the end of the last episode was of course Lenny Bruce and he being weirded out by Midge’s apartment and her parents was hilarious. He’s a principled man and that was totally not his scene as he was certainly not in a good mood.

Midge’s work at the club had not gone unnoticed. The demographics were changing and the women were being treated better and it was making more money so if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it. Meanwhile, her exploits got the attention of a writer named L. Roy Dunham (Hari Nef) who benefitted from writing slam pieces against her to get herself published.

Thankful for that successful interview, Sophie showered Susie with a comedic amount of gifts. That interview got her a new game show which Abe and Rose loved. Despite the game show, she had no interest in leaving Susie or Midge for that matter. Using a PI to learn of her financial situation, Sophie offered her a job as a warmup comic for her game show for which she reluctantly accepted. On the other hand, Susie booked her second client, a magician named Alfie (Gideon Glick), a spot in Joel’s club but he flaked.

Rose’s recent opportunity got the attention of fellow NYC area matchmakers who believed her to be intruding on their turf. Therefore, they threatened to ruin her.

When it came to Midge’s first day working as a warmup comic, she was killing it. However, this did not go unnoticed by Sophie who was getting jealous. Wanting some of those laughs, she picked up a mic of her own and began to compete for some of those laughs. Things got vicious very fast as they focused their attention on one another. Sensing where it was going, the producers of the game show put an end to it. Right as it was getting good.

Jane Lynch is back in a role that won her an Emmy 3 years ago and it would be nice to see her do it again. With her, Alex Borestein, and even Tony Shalhoub and Luke Kirby shining, Rachel Brosnahan better get that chance soon as she is yet to have her big moment.
