It was clear that Samantha’s past and the people she may have crossed along the way would get back to her and now it seems like they have which left her reeling. The walls were closing in and she had to act. Meanwhile, Adelstein was abducted at the end of the last episode for what was a meeting with Hitoshi Ishida (Shun Sugata), the head of one of the dueling Tokyo crime families. With Sato seeing his relationship with Katagiri, Ishida needed a favor to figure out who had been spreading false rumors about he and his relationship with the police. Katagiri confirmed it and was understandably concerned about the ripple effects it may cause if Ishida were to be removed.

From there, Sato and Adelstein’s relationship continued to blossom with Elgort and Kasamatsu‘s great chemistry leading the way. After a night out on the town, they opened up to each other at a restaurant where the latter opened up about his life back home. On a professional level, his editor Eimi (Rinko Kikuchi) was awakened as she finally saw a there there in terms of his investigation as the two went on a little investigation of their own while the great chemistry continued, this time between Elgort and Kikuchi who had herself an episode here. The predatory loan company run by the Yakuza was having their debtors take out life insurance policies so they can still get paid if they were to commit suicide. However, getting to the root of that company was easier said than done thanks to their work covering their tracks.

Riled up, Sato was one of the people on Samatha’s side in spite of his circumstances but she did not see it that way. He may have been a gangster but he still has a human side and cares about people. Kasamatsu is just so cool. The people who were on to her, on the other hand, knew a lot about her and her failsafes.

In the end, Adelstein still found some time to poke the bear and some gangsters as a means to perhaps build his cred and find the mole but there will surely be consequences for those actions.
