Talking is Healing is the best episode so far as the start of the Michelle Carter trial starts to fill in gaps in her and Conrad's stories.

As the case against Michelle Carter is underway, this latest episode of The Girl From Plainville nicely fills in some gaps as far as Michelle and Conrad are concerned while Lynn has a breakthrough of her own.

All this works as Elle Fanning, Colton Ryan, and Chloe Sevigny all deliver great performances as the three. Jumping between timelines once again, the actual courtroom drama was surprisingly quick for Rayburn and the prosecution as the evidence was pretty straightforward. For the Cataldo, it was proving that Conrad was suicidal. It’s all in the texts. However, with the latter filing a motion for a bench trial, both sides now must present their cases to Judge Moniz (J.C. MacKenzie). Seeing Michelle in court was tense for Lynn. Her testimony about the day Conrad died was powerful as was her listening to the coroner’s testimony.

Offering a window into the mind of Conrad, he recorded a set of videos which acted as a diary of sorts. He had his issues but Michelle heading to an institution to deal with her eating disorder with her phone being taken away didn’t help either. He graduated high school and got his boat captain’s license but the pressure of it all seemed to get to him. Michelle’s time seemed to have helped her. Their reunion via text (though acted by Fanning and Ryan) was tense as he opened up to her about his issues unlike what we’ve seen before.

Meanwhile, we learn about the infamous incident between Conrad and his father and Lynn’s disappointment afterwards. Taking that energy into another encounter with Michelle, Conrad called her out as things got heated. He believed no one was listening to him, not even her, therefore killing himself was the only way to get their attention. For the longest time, it looked like he did but just fell asleep.

The episode ended with an emotional Lynn watching one of Conrad’s videos where he opened up about his issues. He acknowledged that he has a lot going for him but that didn’t make him less depressed.
