It’s hard to top the high of last week’s episode but with one episode to go this season, this one did a great job at setting the table for next week’s finale.
The last episode ended with quite the cliffhanger with Barry being poisoned by Sharron but whether or not Barry would survive was never really a question. However, that was only the beginning of his troubles. Still in a weakened state, he’d fall under the clutches of another relative of one of his victims recruited by Fuches. In his mind, that weakened state took him to a beach where he was confronted with seemingly all of his past victims. In the end, Barry’s captor was just ready to move on and be with his son again and that’s what he did, pulling a gun on himself right outside a hospital.
One of Fuches’ latest recruits, Moss’ father Jim (Robert Wisdom) was not going along with the plan as he took him to the cops. Though hearing more about the case got the wheels turning in his head. Cousineau’s new acting class was up and running. Watching him in his element was an absolute delight. Annie, on the other hand, was struggling going back to directing though was getting noticed for her work. Confronting Cousineau, Jim visibly rattled him.
Sally is making waves in the writing room of the new show she was tasked to help spruce up and it was refreshing but did not go well with everyone. Meanwhile, her discovery of Natalie’s new show which shared some similarities to hers really set her over the edge which got caught on video. She is just not handling the cancellation of her show very well. Suffice it to say that she fumbled her response which got her in even more trouble.
Ultimately, Fuches planted more seeds with Nguyen by essentially admitting that he recruited him as a hitman. This news apparently flicked a switch in him as the episode ended with him presumably setting off for Barry.
A showdown appears to be in the cards but whether or not Barry will be himself by then remains to be seen. That being said, Fuches is going down.
