This fall, a special event will be held to celebrate the ongoing final season of Attack on Titan. Attack on Titan Final Season SPECIAL EVENT 2022 was announced on the series’ official website with a stunning new piece of artwork by the anime series’ character designer Tomohiro Kishi. The above image depicts the child versions of Eren, Armin and Mikasa running towards a large tree in the foreground and a contemplative adult Eren in the background.

The event will begin on November 13th featuring an orchestral concert at Tokyo’s Tachikawa Stage Garden, featuring the work of composer Kohta Yamamoto and performers Yuko Ando and Ai Higuchi. There will also be a voice actors panel, featuring appearances from Yuki Kaji (Eren), Yui Ishikawa (Mikasa), Marina Inoue (Armin), Kisho Taniyama (Jean), Hiro Shimono (Connie), Romi Park (Hange) and Ayane Sakura (Gabi).

The announcement also revealed that Attack on Titan: The Final Season – Part 2 will be released on Blu-Ray and DVD on July 20th. The sets will also include a 68-page booklet containing staff interviews and storyboards and artwork from the production of Part 2. Meanwhile, Japanese buyers will receive priority access for purchasing tickets for the special event’s concert.

Attack on Titan: The Final Season – Part 3 is expected to premiere sometime in 2023. Part 2 made it to roughly Chapter 130 of Hajime Isayama’s post-apocalyptic manga, leaving only nine chapters left. Few details about Part 3 are known, however, it seems likely that Yuichiro Hayashi, the director behind Part 1 and Part 2, will return. “After I finished Part 1, I went on to direct Part 2, and I felt I had become much more familiar with Attack on Titan, so I think I’ve been able to direct more comfortably,” he explained in a recent interview.

Set in a brutal, futuristic world where humans hide from Titans — gigantic man-eating monstrosities — in walled cities, the story of Attack on Titan details the journey of Eren, a young man who wants to eliminate all Titans after the creatures destroy his hometown and devour his mother in front of him. While the earlier parts of the narrative frame Eren as the hero, the events of the series eventually transform him into the enemy of humanity.

Attack on Titan is available to stream on Crunchyroll, Netflix and Hulu.
