Time to check back in on Cinda Canning and her minions as they work on her counter-podcast which was really just a means to slander Mabel. Though she was definitely a terrible person, her assistant Poppy White (Adina Verson) still saw her as a hero but maybe that was beginning to change thanks to Mabel. Amongst the central mystery, the episode still had the time for some strong character moments thanks to some stellar performances from Steve Martin and Selena Gomez as the aforementioned Mabel.
The new Brazzos is painful but Charles’ bigger problem was with Jan who was going to be tough to break up with despite having plenty to choose from outside of her. He knew it was wrong but didn’t know how to do it so he got Sazz Pataki to do it which just felt right.
Connecting back to the season premiere, it seemed that Charles, Oliver, and Mabel had a friend in the police department in Detective Williams. She offered to help them analyze the fingerprint on the matchbook but she in reality was on maternity leave in Denver, Colorado therefore their contact the whole time may or may not be the real killer. Agreeing to a meeting, their plan was to set a trap though nobody thought it all the way through as they found themselves distracted at the moment their trap went off. However, someone got marked with glitter.
Alice’s true motivation for befriending Mabel appeared to indeed be some sort of art project but that trauma, along with potentially others, was too much to take. Meanwhile, Oliver was worried about Will not being his real son so he and Charles waited for DNA results over salsa. However, that would get interrupted by Mabel who encountered the person they had marked with glitter on the subway and stabbing him. Already being in the news for allegedly stabbing someone, the video of the incident spread like wildfire thus making things difficult for all three of them.
It certainly won’t help to be in the spotlight once again after being warned by Detective Kreps (Michael Rapaport) along with Cinda Canning and her crew against podcasting. Who is Mabel’s latest victim? Someone we know or someone totally different? The twists and turns just keep coming.
