Finally the moment every fan has been waiting for, Daredevil (Charlie Cox) makes his brilliant return in this week’s episode of She-Hulk. Cox is once again perfect in the role and while there a few changes to his character to fit the tone of the MCU, those changes work which should leave fans completely satisfied. The Daredevil/Matt Murdock scenes are easily the biggest and best moments of this episode by far but outside of that, it still delivers a shocking plot twist at the end.
Ribbit and Rip it sees an amateur superhero known as Leapfrog (Brandon Stanley) come to Jen in hopes to sue the manufacturer of his suit after a mishap burning Leapfrogs legs. However, the manufacturer turns out to be Luke Jacobson (Griffin Matthews), the hilarious and eccentric Superhero designer who just so happened to make Jen’s suit and her dress for the upcoming Female Lawyer of the Year gala. After a failed attempt to convince Jacobson to take responsibility, the two meet in court where Murdock returns to MCU to represent him. After the case doesn’t go her way, Jen goes for a drink and runs into Murdock before they have a drink and share a lovely bonding moment highlighted by their amazing chemistry.
Jen later gets a call from Leapfrog saying he is getting attacked on his way to his secret base and instead pulls into a parking lot to try and shake his attacker. Jen arrives on the scene in true She Hulk fashion where she is met with Daredevil. Whilst short the subsequent fight between the two should still rank among the best moments in the MCU.
After Jen knocks Daredevil into a car, she unmasks Daredevil which to her surprise is revealed to be Murdock before she launches a hilarious jab about him posing as a blind man. His client has been kidnapped by Leapfrog and forced to make him another suit. The two superheroes are then forced to team up and save Jacobson from Leapfrog. After saving Jacobson the two have a sweet moment back in her apartment.
However, there is still the Female Lawyer of the year gala. But when making her acceptance speech, Jen is interrupted by the Intelligencia, who release very personal and uncompromising information about her. Clearly angered, she some destruction while chasing a henchman until being stopped by some heavily-armored guards with super powered weapons just as the episode ends.
There is so much to unpack here, for one Daredevil’s return was spectacular. Featuring a great performance from Cox, brilliant fight scenes, and of course the very iconic Daredevil theme which is sure to make many fans of the Daredevil series scream in excitement. Similarly, Leapfrog was a hilarious addition, proving he has no skill or ability to be a comparable superhero. The ending was shocking and puts Jen at her lowest and most vulnerable, leaving fans anxiously waiting for next week.
Though this weeks episode will be most praised for its inclusion of Daredevil, however without his inclusion, this episode was still great on its own, giving fans more uproarious comedy, great fourth-wall breaking, exciting references and expanding on Jen’s character and story.
In the end, Ribbit and Rip it is without a doubt the best episode of the series so far, delivering everything fans love and of course, the spectacular inclusion of Daredevil.
