Baskets is another hilarious episode, delivering much of the series' trademark sense of humor and delivering on a few poignant themes.

Baskets, the penultimate episode of the first season of Reboot delivers another hilarious installment to an ultimately uproarious series. As the season has progressed, it seems as if the series has leaned away from the poignant themes which made it so original and fresh to begin with. Sure, at first this may be perceived as a knock against the series but its brilliant comedy and amazing characters still make the series as refreshing as the first few episodes.

This episode sees Gordon and Hannah tricking each other into doing each other’s meetings which they at first feel guilty about but quickly get over. Hannah forces Gordon to sit in the writers’ room with Bree, who wants to do more than just be an actor, bringing up the fact that Reese Witherspoon and Eva Longoria are not just actors anymore, but producers as well. Similarly, Gordon tricks Hannah into a recording session with Clay, that she soon learns he is exceptionally bad at. After struggling with their jobs, they both swap back and manage to solve the problems with both Clay and Bree quite easily.

The B-plot is where the episode truly shines as Reed is asked to play a game of basketball with Zack and his friends which Reed soon learns are a group of teenagers and kids. Reed is hesitant and decides to play safe, until the kids hurl abuse at the “old timer”. Reed then enters “beast mode”, smacking the ball out of the kids’ hands, and dunking on them with ease, whilst throwing insults left and right. This plot delivers an uproarious amount of fun and offensive comedy, ending in a great bit of social commentary that is sure to get a kick out of everyone.

All in all, Baskets is another hilarious episode of television, delivering much of the series’ trademark sense of humor and delivering on a few poignant themes. With the series being a hit throughout this first season, we are beyond excited to see what the finale has in store.
