After 11 tension-filled episodes, everything has finally led to this moment, a phenomenally-executed and incredibly-satisfying finale which will undoubtedly get fans excited for season 2.

It’s the day of Maarva’s funeral and everyone has come to Ferrix to capture and kill Andor. Thankfully, Andor has enough allies to protect him as Maarva’s Rebellion influence lives on.

There is so much to be said here but first off, Rix Road is quite easily the most tension-filled episode and will leave viewers on the edge of their seats. There was so much riding on this episode after all the build-up to this point but thankfully, Tony Gilroy doubles down on fans’ expectations and delivers everything that has made the series what it is and so much more.

Seeing all the major players on Ferrix for Maarva’s funeral, is a real “Avengers” moment. Getting to know these characters over the course of the series so far, it is beyond exciting and also terrifying seeing them all together in an incredibly tense environment. Andor, Luthen, Vel, Bix, Cinta, B2, Meero, Karn and Sergeant Mosk all play major parts in the episode and though they may not all be on the same side, it is still nonetheless exciting and nerve-racking to watch. Meanwhile, Andor is no stranger to very inspiring, well-written and brilliantly-performed speeches, and Rix Road delivers two of the best and most important one yet from Nemick and Maarva.

Throughout the series, Andor has delivered many exhilarating action scenes, from the first chase on Ferrix, to the spectacular dog fight in last week’s episode. However, the action in this week’s episode is far and away the best. The action is explosive, literally. As soon as the action starts it is simply non-stop. Choreographed and shot to perfection, whilst having so many key characters at the heart of the gunfire and explosions only raises the stakes and tension. Once again, fans will fall in love with B2 as he will almost surely make many viewers cry once again.

The sound design and music are also top notch. The bang of the anvil is heart pounding, the funeral music is emotional, yet very tense and there is simply no better sound that the blast of a Star Wars blaster.

Whilst the majority of the episode focuses on Maarva’s funeral, fans still get their taste of the all so brilliant Genevieve O’Reilly as Mon Mothma, as she lays into her husband. Soon it is revealed that Mothma’s schoffer is an ISB spy. The biggest shock is when Mothma decides to take Davo Sculdum up on his offer, giving Mothma all the funds she needs. This moment is tragic and shocking, truly cementing the trouble Mothma is in.

In the end, Rix Road is an incredibly tense, emotional, exciting and overall satisfying finale to one of the year’s best series.

Overall, Andor is a brilliant series and undeniably the best live action Star Wars series to date, delivering brilliant writing and character development, a masterclass in tension, and phenomenal performances. Bring on Season 2.

And stay tuned for the post credit scene.
