The walls are closing in as far as Sicarius/Elias is concerned. Suffice it to say that it didn’t take long to for Rossi to connect Elias Voit to Sicarius but proving it was another challenge. The potential for an identification was there but that wasn’t so clearcut either. Still coming off the grief of losing his last wife, Rossi was determined but now given one more chance, it was up to the BAU to put all the pieces together. Green and Elias’ latest victim weren’t so forthcoming for which the former was surprising. But it soon became clear that his original motive of revenge was still alive and well.
Meanwhile, looking to get ahead of the investigation, Elias showed up at the Seattle FBI field office to confront Rossi. He was smart and could talk out of his situation with his wife but both knew the truth and that the latter had nothing. From there, the back-and-forth game continued as they toyed with one another with Elias eventually getting the upper hand though being called back was not going to stop Rossi. He then found himself goaded into becoming a hostage. Now those looking for Green to save the day may need to readjust their expectations a little bit. They all found themselves together later on, however, it did not go well. Now it was up to the rest of the BAU to catch up.
Those also wondering what happened before this series run and story began were treated to a series of flashbacks both emotional and touching involving all the characters whose main purpose was to introduce Rossi’s phobia of being buried underground and that’s exactly what Elias did to him as the episode ended with Rossi on a livestream, trapped inside one of his bunkers.
Joe Mantegna and Zach Gilford were such a delight here as their chemistry made for a fun dynamic between the hostage and the captor but now next week’s season finale, as the series was recently renewed for a second season, is to find Rossi and capture Elias presumably before it’s too late and just as it was starting to get good too. Perhaps some of those flashbacks could have appeared sooner, however, that’s a minor gripe.
