Rating Summary
You Season 4 Part 2 delivers a thrilling, mind-blowing conclusion and a phenomenal culmination of the season and the series thus far.

The first part of You season four brought the series back its roots, making Joe as a fish-out-of-water in London, England as he looked for a fresh start. However, he quickly found himself in the middle of a sinister murder mystery. Part two dives much deeper into the aforementioned mystery, featuring more jaw dropping twists, turns, and reveals that will leave viewers on the edge of their seats while also bringing the entire season and the series full circle.

The back half of the season sees Joe dealing with the aftermath from part one as his focus was now to hunt down Rhys (Ed Speleers) and protect his rich “friends” at all costs. If it could be described in one word, it would be rollercoaster. Throwing all of the first half reveals out the window in favor of one of the most shocking reveals of the entire series. Meanwhile, many unanswered questions lingering from the first half are revealed in ways viewers will probably not expect, as the season positions itself for its final few episodes.

As mentioned, the first half brings the series back to its roots. But as refreshing as that first half, part two feels more like the first two seasons of You, putting Joe back on the prowl. Part two isn’t just a satisfying culmination of everything that happened back in the first half, building on the characters and storylines established in the first half while also finding a way to connect to storylines from previous seasons which will surely blow the minds of fans of the series.

The beauty part two is how it explores Joe’s inner psyche as his current mental state became front and center. While most viewers figure themselves familiar with how Joe thinks and acts thanks to his constant monologues, part two dives deeper into the series’ main character like never before. Joe’s arc is greatly expanded here as it saw him deal with the guilt of his actions and the karma that came from them over the course of the series.

Character wise, part two offers much of the same. Lady Phoebe (Tilly Keeper) once again stole the show, becoming gleefully independent and helping others far away from her privileged influencer stereotypes. Kate (Charlotte Richie), on the other hand, is a compelling character whose story and arc are much more developed than the others, ultimately feeling more well rounded than in part one.

The cast as a whole is once again top notch. Badgley is as devilishly charming as always as a character viewers hate to root for. Despite being so depraved and evil, he remains so utterly likeable. Keeper keeps proving why Phoebe was the standout character of the first half while Richie is better by giving her character even more depth and nuance. Another standout from the first half was the sensational performance from Ed Spelers, who after the reveal, completely let loose as Rhys and takes him to yet another level.

In the end, You Season 4 Part 2 delivers a thrilling, mind-blowing conclusion and a phenomenal culmination of the season and the series thus far while setting up a potential season five. With part two turning the entire season on its head, season four as a whole has proved to be one of the best and most ambitious seasons.
