Hidden Gems of 2023 So Far

This year has been quite an impressive year when it comes to successful movie releases. M3GAN started the year off with a bang, earning $181 million against a $12 million budget. Only weeks later, M. Night Shyamalan’s Knock at the Cabin proved to be another impressive outing with its high praise from once cynical fans and critics. March arrived packed with long-awaited sequels like Creed III, Scream VI, and John Wick: Chapter 4 satisfying franchise fans with new directorial voices and refreshing narratives. And it was only until April that The Super Mario Bros. Movie joined the billion-dollar club, encouraging moviegoers of all ages to go back out to their local cinema and catch the overwhelming run of summer blockbusters to come: Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One, Barbie, Oppenheimer, and the list goes on.

While all those films are all excellent in their own way, a few other incredible theatrical releases have flown under the radar, often hidden beneath the noise of broken box office records. The films listed in the video below are just a few titles from this year so far worth checking out that may have have flown under the radar the first time around. Whether it be sports dramas, prestige horror, classic horror, or romance, these five hidden gems excel in just about every area of filmmaking.
