This Saturday, September 7th, 2024, the 2024 Biennale di Venezia jury presented this year’s prizes. The president’s jury, French-Actor Isabelle Huppert, and her colleagues selected what they considered to be the best works of the competition. Venice also marks the start of the fall festival season and precedes the awards season. Since 2010, 22 films that world premiered in Venice have been nominated for Best Picture at the Academy Awards, and four of them won the award. Also, since 2017, five Golden Lion winners got a Best Picture nomination and two won. The festival has shifted its spotlight upon Hollywood films, it has become an essential path to the awards season.
