The Infiltrator

I will say that it’s kind of weird seeing Bryan Cranston on the good side of the law after all those years in Breaking Bad but it’s more Bryan Cranston so there’s really no reason to complain. This time Cranston plays Robert Mazur, a federal customs and excise agent who uncovers a money laundering scheme involving Colombian drug lord Pablo Escobar. For me, Cranston can do no wrong so I am looking forward to what he will do here. The trailer does look pretty cool and action-packed here as Mazur and fellow agents Emir Abreu (John Leguizamo) and Kathy Ertz (Diane Kruger) must go undercover in order to combat this threat. I’m excited for sure. The Infiltrator releases July 15th, 2016.

The Magnificent Seven

Chris Pratt and Denzel Washington in the same movie, need I say more? That is pretty much what it would take to sell me on a movie. This is a reimagining of the 1960s classic western of the same name where seven gun men in the old west gradually come together to help a poor village against savage thieves. This definitely also looks exciting as well and I’m also curious as to how this group comes together. The movie also boasts an impressive supporting cast featuring Ethan Hawke, Vincent D’Onofrio, and Peter Sarsgaard and will also be directed by Antoine Fuqua, the director behind Training Day and The Equalizer. I’m excited for sure (otherwise I wouldn’t have talked about it here). The Magnificent Seven releases September 23rd, 2016.

The Girl on the Train

This one is actually on my most anticipated movies of 2016 list which you can see here. Well that escalated quickly. I guess it may have been naive of me to think that this movie was about a girl on a train since it is much much more and that’s a good thing. Out of the 3 movies I’ve mentioned here, this one is the most exciting. I am a big fan of mystery and thrillers and I haven’t seen too many good ones lately (The Gift would be the only exception) so that just makes this one even more exciting. The film’s synopsis is: Each day, Rachel Watson (Emily Blunt) takes the train to work in the city. The train passes the home of a married couple in which Rachel becomes endeared. They appear to have the perfect life, and Rachel is both envious and happy for them. One day while passing their house, Rachel witnesses something that changes everything she thought about the couple. The Girl on the Train releases October 7th, 2016.

Jason Bourne

To be honest, I never thought there’d be another one but I’m glad that we have this one to look forward to. I’ve always been a big fan of the Bourne series, primarily due to Matt Damon. When they tried to continue the franchise 4 years ago with The Bourne Legacy starring Jeremy Renner, I skipped it because a Bourne movie isn’t a Bourne movie without Damon. So of course he’s back here alongside director of the last 2 Damon Bourne films, Paul Greengrass. To me, that’s the way it should always have been. Luckily for us, he is back to his smart, kick-ass ways and I can’t wait to see what he does here. What also fascinates me are new additions to the cast including Alicia Vikander and Tommy Lee Jones. The plot hasn’t been revealed yet but who cares? Jason Bourne releases July 29th, 2016.
